My dog used to run full tilt in his sleep, and if I didn't know better, would swear that he walked too...he'd be sleeping soundly, yes, snoring, and suddenly just get up, walk around "muttering" to himself, and flop back down, all with his eyes barely open.  One night, he walked over to the cat, who was sleeping on a kitchen chair, pushed him OFF the chair, and went back into the living room where he'd been asleep.

My cats dream too, they run and their whiskers twitch, and they've been known to vocalize either by growling, or on one occasion, screaming.......talk about a "HOLY SHIT!!!!!!" moment, the other two cats and I jumped up like we'd been shot!  Not a pleasant way to be awakened...took a good 15 minutes for everyone's heart to settle back down!

My Cocker Spaniel snores, farts, dreams and has an occasional nightmare. When she has a nightmare, she howls and it takes me a minute to wake her up.

Oh I'm sure animals dream, my dogs have run, buried, growled, howled, woofed ect in their sleep. My cats do this as well, just not as often as cats don't sleep as deeply as dogs do. even my mice did this a bit, not on such a large scale of course but they do jerk a bit in their sleep. it's just a question of what do they dream about for me.

Wonder what fish dream about. lol worms!

My girl whimpers- due to bad dreams, someone was shooting BB gun at her... So, I gently wake her up, give her a hug and tell her it's alright, she's safe.  My dog suffers from PTSD.
