1) I couldnt find any previous posts on this topic with the search feature
2) I think its just pretty useful info

Choose Safer Tires Based on Tire ID Numbers

(I started paying attention after I developed dry rot on the TREAD at 36,000 miles)

I've never had a date on a tire before.

Here's what I was told. "the rubber in tires gets hard over time. 
The rule of thumb is not to use tires over 6 years old and tires made within the
last 10-12 years all have a date code stamped into them, along with were they were
made."
