MsFlutter -> Dates on Tires! (6/4/2009 1:32:08 PM)

1) I couldnt find any previous posts on this topic with the search feature
2) I think its just pretty useful info

Choose Safer Tires Based on Tire ID Numbers

(I started paying attention after I developed dry rot on the TREAD at 36,000 miles)

I've never had a date on a tire before.

I'll have to ask my friend the tire expert on this one.

Please do - and let us know what he/she says!

Here's what I was told. "the rubber in tires gets hard over time.
The rule of thumb is not to use tires over 6 years old and tires made within the
last 10-12 years all have a date code stamped into them, along with were they were
made."
