Too many times, but then I have been living with friends in order to avoid homelessness because of my bipolar. NOw I am staying with my mother and getting treatment, so things are looking right.

in another life ... I knew a family who could pack in one day; move the next day; and unpack on the third. Of course the husband was a home contractor and always lived in the homes he built. During the Christmas holidays I ran in to the wife of that family; and I had to commend her ability to marshal their two daughters during those transitions. Apparently during that time of her life she never thought about the process - it was just done. I am still amazed at how that family did it. MstrPBK St. Paul, MN USA

19 times in 29 years. I had to get a pencil and paper to tally it. Not from a military upbringing nor am I in the military myself. I just happened to have moved often. It does suck but it's better than attending a funeral and every move was for a good reason and worth the trouble.

i think the tally is 15 times in 45 years, the first 14 were in the first 30, i've owned my home for 15 yrs now. my parents rented for a good portion of my childhood. PM

This is my third move within a 12 month span. Ugh. The only good part is that I never fully unpacked, so packing won't be so hard this time. I thank all the little green gods of packing that 2 lovely ladies from the Michigan Clique came and helped (rescued) me when I sold my house. I would have been truly doomed without them!

I hear ya, from 2-11 I moved about once a year, then moved for college back and forth every year, then moved to florida, then back to the local area then to another place in the area, then to ky, then back to this area, then another place in the area. It's why my ass has remained firmly planted in this apartment for a while.

Well, I started out as a Navy brat, so there was all that moving...settled in the house I grew up in in NY in 1965, but since 1981, I have lost count of the number of times I have moved...heck, I've been in AZ for almost 5 years and have moved 3 times! If things go well, I have a move in my future......back across the country with 4 cats. I've lived in CA, MO, TX, AL, IA, IL, NY, OK, FL, VA, SC, West Germany, and now in AZ. Too much military in my life......but at least I have moving down to a science.....those Sterilite 18 gallon tubs are the BEST for moving......they have tops, they stack, the only drawback is that it's too easy to overpack those puppies! I've learned how to pack a 3 bedroom house in about 3 days, a one bedroom apartment in a matter of hours, the last move, I packed the u-haul, moved, unloaded the uhaul and was pretty much unpacked in another 6-7 hours. But I also start packing things as soon as I know a move is coming....it's amazing how little you actually need to have to live. However, I gotta agree....MOVING SUCKS! [8D]

I also hate moving, I dont actually know how many times, but the last 6 have been extra hard. During one move I lost alot of my stuff because my friend but most things in storage and hit hard financial probems. Bah its just stuff. I have managed to survive without them. I just made my move from NYC to FL to live with BP and poen permentaly and was able to just use two boxes and a suitcase which I just used as checked baggage on the train so no expense really there. Honestly with my anxiety disorder, I cannot make myself pack anything till just the day before, then its full on. Luckily it not alot to move, learned to live lite on marterial things so I move light. Hoping this the the last stop on my gypsy venture.

I've moved 15 times in over 50 years. Most of those moves happened while I was in my 20s and 30s married to a military guy. I found that I actually looked forward to some of those moves as a means and reason to sort through a bunch of "stuff" that had been collected over a couple years, and dispose of those items no longer needed. Now I live permanently in a motor home. Every spring and fall we go through the accumulated "stuff" we have and decide what items are really necessary. We only have so much room and for each item brought in another item must find new home somewhere else.

i've moved about 11 times in 25 years and about to do it again next spring. it's just a part of my family, i've moved the least out of all of my mom's kids actually

I dont like to move either. I try to avoid it. I moved quite a bit up to 1990. Since then it slowed down.

Not to mention in late July, early August, I am getting the rest of my stuff (read crafts, business clothing and my horde of shoes) from my um's daddy house. He wants the room back and I finally got room here. That means the 7-quart crockpot for stewing meats as well and the professional grade KitchenAid mixer...<evil grin> We just can't live together because we tend to hog the kitchen...LOL!

I hate it too. I've lost count how many times I've done it myself, but being the only one in my circle of friends and relatives for many years who owned a truck, I always had to be there to help them move. I swear my wife's sister moved 5 times in the first year we were together.
