years ago during a bible study i came across a passage that i never forgot. the words rang true then and still resonate with me even now.

"I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances."

zen teachings offer a similar lesson about the dangers of striving. at some point when do we finally say alright, i'm happy, i have enough? i agree it is good to be motivated, but some people spend their entire lives obsessed with finding the next thing. they rarely take the time to enjoy the here and now.

strangely enough i don't look back and say anything. i recognized at the onset that i was unaware where the road would lead and that the supposed destination in sight could change and usually does. i was more concerned about the experiences, and taking time to smell the roses by enjoying today and allowing tomorrow to take care of itself. i have found myself in circumstances that i could have never predicted. that's the beauty of life, you really don't know. knowing really isn't what's important, its how you handle the time you've been allotted. whatever that entails.

im just wondering how many of you guys, D and s, have a glance back and think wow! - i never did sign up for that, but look where we are! - or - wow! - look how far we've (ive)come/changed/altered.

A glance perhaps but nothing more.

do you think we consider the destination atall or are we  people addicted to pushing ourselves and growing and ever changing.  in which case then its a case of 'destination unknown' on pretty much every level.

I'm pretty much destination unknown, unplanned, unthought about.

at what point do we say 'ive arrived' - im begining to think that thought process doesnt exist here.  no bad thing, just an observation.

I never arrive and don't particularly want to.
To me time spent looking back, looking forward, look for teh destination can sometimes be time wasted. Of course it's useful at times.

you killed the beauty of today.'

lally.. i think you hit on it in the words you used there.
i've been married in Vanilla-land. i've signed a contract in Slave-land. i've signed publisher's agreements. i've signed an oath of secrecy (civil servant in the past). i've signed an ethical Code of Conduct. Each and all of the signings i have done were deemed to represent an end-game. i mean once married. Always married. Til death us do part. i sogned a slave's contract in my own blood for god's sake.
i still realeased myself.
There's something about signing up for a destination that kills the journey for me. i'll resist. i'll break the bonds that tie me. i'll run free.
What i'm saying is that the syrongest bonds are those that are invisible and those that are unfelt except by those who feel and see them in their hearts. My heart is now what binds me. There are no fixed rules, there is no signing in stone. The consent changes day by day, even hour by hour. And yes i consent to the changing, to the journey and have no heed of or need to know where the destination is.
On a spiritual level we are all headed for the same Destination anyway. That's the big D one. Other than that, i agree, the journey itself is all there is. And it'sa journey that for me has pushed all other destinations to its side, like little sign pots that say; marriage went that way, kids grew up, Paul, Peter, Mandy, David, Mr X and so on....
i long to have someone at my side when i pass, who will look into my eyes and simply say without words...i know and it was worth it.
It is worth it Lally. Whatever it is, it's worth it.
