i have taken kneeling, in the religious ceremonial sense, as an act of supplication, where the faithful show their obeisance or deference to a higher power by virtue of making themselves physically small and casting their eyes to the floor, only one step removed from prostration. Kneeling in worship shows respect, where prostration shows total submission. Think Holy Orders. Kneeling, when i could do it, was something that brought me closer to my own submission, brought forth emotions that were otherwise hidden. i felt physically and emotionally small, almost vulnerable, though not weak, and not unloved. These days what ails means i can no longer kneel, although we have been able to replicate many of the feelings by virtue of investing a certain amount of time sat in front of Andy with the same feelings engendered. It works for us, and it means a lot to have a workable solution.
