Interesting topic this has become, MstrTiger.
I certainly won't comment on the ongoing debate of the correctness of the term "fetish" as I guilty of using it in both the traditional manner and the pop culture manner and as to seeing trends- I have not been involved in this realm long enough nor will I likely be...I fall in the catagory of "trying this for awhile and moving on".
As to the comments on tattoos and hairlessness - i agree there are those that do these things according to trends and as someone in the bodywork field, I see many tattoos ranging from hideous to absolutely stunning...very few were done as whims or trend following ( although I will concede to the tramp stamp trend). Most people with tattoos have wonderful and meaningful reasons/stories to accompany their body art just as I do with my own. No one has ever admitted to any tattoo I have seen being done for shock value.
And on the subject of hairlessness, particularly genitals....I believe it is personal preference these days although I am sure some have done so for shock value. Personally, the ONLY hair I prefer on my body is on my head, eyebrows and eyelashes with just a smudge of fine hair over the pubic bone.I find partners that are fine with this - I do not adapt for them. Likewise, I prefer hairless men...don't always choose them but prefer it none the less. This has nothing to do with shock value or trend and everything to do with what turns me on.
