Those same social services also have increased costs. After all they have to pay the teachers and nurses. How much of that cost is covered by taxes? How many illegals pay taxes? Everybody pays one way or another. Forget "illegal" for a moment. Bottom 20% (probably more) in US do not pay income or property taxes because their income is small and they do not have properties. What happens if we send them away, execute them, keep them ot of reach for education and healthcare? Would it be a good idea to get rid of about 60 million people? Would it be then everybody is reasonably well off, happy, there will be very little crime and misery? What's your point? If anything it supports what some of us have posted already - that the overburdened social systems in this country are being overextended by the addition of illegals using the system. If 20% of the nation is indeed living at this degree of poverty (and that would make it 1 in 5, a number I find a little difficult to believe), illegals adding to it certainly in no way benefits this country and it actually implies that a worthy citizen (or even unworthy, but a citizen nevertheless) may not get access to services he or she might otherwise have been able to benefit from. UncleNasty: Your post is spot on. I completely agree.
