Okay , am I the only person that watches the commericals and realize "No Way" is any of this happening in my neighborhood.

I saw an EMPIRE CARPETS commercial that shows all these pretty models reading letters sent by homeowners  who had wounderful experiences. I am ok with this .But then they show all these pretty people installing carpet and the salesperson  discussing their products in your home. They claim they will not be undersole.

Reality, is the Company has nothing but subcontractors for all the work.Even the salespersons have to be incorporated to work for them. They promise to be there the next day and they do show up. But  many of the people don't speak english as a first language and  if there is a ny problem , the installers  don't know anything at all .And they price high and come down  but not as low as they promise.. I know you pay for the  convince of getting  the carpet the next day, but how many people can't wait a week  or so to get installed.

Who else want's to challenge a commercial with their experiences?

Ha! Check out the Gardisil thread.

All those young girls saying "I'll be one less". As if getting this pricey vaccine will seal the deal and they will never have to worry about cervical cancer. The truth is that this vaccine claims 90-100% effectiveness, but what they don't tell you is that 90% of HPV's clear up on their own! So it's possible that it's ZERO percent effective.

Oh another one that pisses me off because I had such a horrible experience with them is the advertisements for AAA Insurance. They use the name, but are actually a separate company. Their service is horrible. They quoted me a price for my sons auto insurance and I paid the first premium. Before his first payment was due they sent a letter saying they had made a mistake and his premium was 50% higher!!   There were other problems as well. They were awful.

Ooo shamWOWs... and anything with Billy Mays... infomercials in general I think. If you have to scream to sell your product, I do not want it.

YOU BUY THIS TINY LITTLE RAG AND IT'LL SOAK UP YOUR WHOLE DAMN CARPET AND THE CAT TOO! PROMISE! AND, ALSO, WE FEEL OBLIGATED TO TELL YOU IT'S FROM GERMANY ABOUT FOURTEEN TIMES.

Yeah... I watch too much TV.

What about all the Di-tech ads for home loans....They are owned by GM, if they have money to lend for home loans, why do they need a bailout.

I just love how 1 paper towel can clean your whole kitchen and not even rip, it's the quicker picker upper....yea...and I have a bridge I need to sell

Just a side note......if the English-speaking people are bothered by the non-English-speaking people working in all the menial jobs, they should get in there and get hired themselves.  Just sayin'.

Did you know the average one hour TV show is actually only 44 mins long?  And these actors can get paid nearly a half a million per episode?

I have taken to DVRing everthing just to get past these moronic commercials, some that are played two times in a row as if they weren't obnoxious enough the first time.  I can't believe how long it is between show segments as I run the DVR...nonsense over and over and over...

Yes, these commercials are just annoying (if I watch live TV I do the "man" thing and flick through the channels) but what are you going to do?  DVR I say!

NYLASS:  LOLOLOL

But the most annoying commercials are the optimum cable commercials in the tri-state area.  There have to be 3 or 4 different once and each more irritating than the next.  The damned jingles stay in your head for HOURS after the commercials (which I guess is the point) and I just want to SCREAM.

And FreeCreditReport.com with the guitar playing pirate.  Who doesn't sing THAT all day long?...

Wow..that felt good.  Thanks openminded!

We have an ad running in the UK at the moment for laser eye treatment. The opening line is

"pay £395 and get our best laser eye treatment"

Is it just me or is that really stupid? Would you want their worst eye treatment??????

The Subway $5-footlong ads are really getting on my nerves...

Any company who calims they are the "most preferred", "most perfect", or "most" anything tick me off.  You cannot, by definifition be the "most" preferred: you're either the preferred company or you're not.  Claiming you're the most perfect is even worse.

The Geico ads were ok until this new campaign with the stack of money with the eyes and that annoying song in the background.  It would be a little less annoying if they had used the original music, instead of the techno-electronica version of "Somebody's Watching Me".

Pretty much every ad for a specific car dealer.  In Chicago in the 70's it was Arrow Chevy.  These days it's Bob Roarman (Bob ROOOOOOAAAAARMAN!) and Max Madsen who seem to be in a competition to see who can create the more obnoxious ad.

And what was that headache thing that you roll on your forehead?  They just kept shouting the same phrase over and over again.  I think I've managed to block that one out.

How about "5hr Energy Shot": next thing we know it's 4am and we're out on the lake fishing.  Sounds like there may be a little somethin' from Columbia in there...

Any radio ad that includes the phrase "this is (insert call letters) and we're in the middle of a  commercial-free...).  Uhm, guys, that IS a commercial!  Daumb-ass!

Any femenine hygiene or male ED ad.
Any pharmacuetical ad.
Any ad for a huge corporation selling something average people don't buy, ie GE pushing their global services or Northrup pushing their military hardware.

Those are the only ones that come to mind at the moment.  But you know there are tons of others.

They are ALL annoying! You have to love the medicine commercials though. "Take this script to get rid of whatever", that part takes roughly 5 seconds, then the side effects, that's probably the rest of the commercial. I'm sorry, clearing up my skin or sinuses is not worth the risk of anal seepage and or possibly death (not sure which is worse).

I understand that we owe our frequent visits from Vince and the rest of these folks to the poor economy.  These businesses contract with the stations and networks to pop their commercials in whenever there's a really cheap ad slot available.  Many companies are cutting back on their advertising budgets, so the stations have more open spots, and we all get to know Vince much better than we'd care to.

My favorite commercials have to be the prescription ads.  They're showing you butterflies, rainbows and happy people breezing along through life and telling you about the possibility of uncontrollable bowel movements and liver failure.  I like trying to pronounce the generic names.  Aripiprazole.  Eszopiclone.  Pegfilgrastim.  I did not make those up.  They are the real names of Abilify, Lunesta and Neulasta. They remind me of a Thurber story about the nasty little man who assigned the telephone numbers.

Hahaha.. they ran a commercial a few months back where the people were all "Head-on, I hate your commercials"

I think the radio guys have to insert their call letters every so often by law... or at least that's what I heard.

I have a problem with ANY commercial where they get half way through, then shout, "BUT WAIT!" then go on with their commercial.

Then there is the commercial for a knife sharpener called The Shark or something like that.  First they show a person trying to slice a tomato...only they don't "slice" the tomato...they just press straight down and end up squashing the tomato all over.  But after using the Shark on the knife they then actually slice with the knife and get a very nice cut.  Same thing when they show slicing the "fresh baked bread".  Then they try to show slicing through a sponge, only they almost have the knife almost laid completely on it's side in the before shot, but use the actual knife edge in the after shot.  In the before shot of using scissors they use the tip of the scissors wich never cuts as well anyway, but in th after shot they are using the part of the scissors close to the hinge.  Just curious...has anyone ever been fooled by this commercial and actually bought the item?  Apparently there are or they wouldn't keep showing it.  And I'm not saying the item doesn't work...I have a sharpener very similar that does help in a pinch, but it doesn't do nearly as good a job as an oil stone and steel.
