quote:
ORIGINAL: allthatjaz A confident man is someone who is knowledgeable, direct and clear, self assured and can hold his own with anyone. An arrogant man is someone who uses sarcasms, put downs, rudeness and an un-earned demand for respect. There is a very clear difference between the two. Is one persons arrogance anothers self confidence? you have to know both to understand the difference but a good example is that a confident man is never rude just positively assertive. For me there are no grey areas, there is a very clear distinction. Maria I know a goodly number of men who are arrogant, never rude, with impeccable manners, who know their place in the system and roughly half were born to high positions. Their arrogance is a natural arrogance born of knowing their place, never abusing it but expecting that their “requests” will be met when dealing with those under their sphere of influence. All the men are self confident in themselves and their abilities in what they do. To a man they all have the power of command. None of them are weak people hiding behind a pose of superiority or abuse. People who do not know me but hear/see me commanding our two dogs by voice or hand signals just shrug as hearing/seeing something quite acceptable and common. Yet if they see/hear similar commands to a slave, I will be accused of being an arrogant and abusive bastard. Arrogance, real arrogance is a matter of perception.
