In "Batman Begins," actor Liam Neeson plays the role of Henri Ducard (Ra's al Ghul). In that role, Ducard is the mentor to Bruce Wayne. He first finds Bruce Wayne in a Chinese prison and offers him a "path" and proceeds to train him and enable him to face his fears. Setting the plot details aside, the manner in which Liam Neeson presents himself strikes me as akin to the presence of a Master or Dom. Self confident, wise, intelligent, self aware, skilled, sensitive in his own way, and more. A magnetic personality in control (flawed, not perfect). Stirring, not shaken.

Can you name a character or actor in other movies in which you see the qualities of a Master or Dominant displayed?

No, I can't - unless it's a movie *about* d/s or m/s.

All of the qualities that people list as "qualities of a master or dominant" are, to me, just qualities of a good person or a good leader.  And s-types are capable of being good people and leaders too, so...that doesn't work for me.

Plus, d-types can be bad people and not-leaders.

This is about relationships - there are no "dominant qualities" or "submissive qualities".

Mikhail Baryshnikov every time. Not just for the roles he plays on T.V. (sex in the city) or the movies he has been in, or the ballet roles he has danced, but for who he is and how he has lived his life.

Vin Diesel as Riddick.
Matthew Maconahay in almost any movie he's ever been in
Clive Owen in King Arthur
Wes Bently in American Beauty
Ryan Gossling in The Notebook
Robert Pattinson in Twilight (the character, Edward Cullen, isn't nearly as dominant in the movie nearly as much as in all the books)

I'm sure I could think of more...but I'm out of time hehehe.

Not a movie but should be... Jamie Frasier of Outlander by Diana Gabaldon.  There are always rumors that this book will be made a movie but keeps not happening.  I mean he even spanks his wife... yum.

Ditto *grin*

Officer and a Gentleman. Richard Gere....*drools*

I don't know - I am probably the only one that thought Richard Gere was such a total ass in that movie and to her, that  Debra Winger should've just given him a knee in his groin.  I love a happy ending and all but I really didn't get the attraction to him.  No, not domly at all.

Lestat from Interview and Queen of the Damned seems quite dominant although in the novels he seems to also be able to switch although how he was so manipulating and cunning I always saw him more dominant.

Phantom from Phantom of the Opera, Especially during the two songs Music of the Night and Point of No Return (Especially with Michael Crawford singing.

I also thought Jareth from the Film, Labyrinth was quite Controlling being how much he was willing to do to claim Sarah as his own.

In the 1992 version of Dracula, I always saw Dracula controlling in claiming Mina as well

You can pretty much pick any Sean Connery movie out there and he's a dom.  Medicine Man....yeah it works even if he has a pony tail.  Entrapment.  I don't know, for an older guy....he's still got it.

Men with an outright male dominant or predatory vibe in movies:

David Bowie as the Goblin King in Labyrinth.

Any man playing the Phantom in any version of The Phantom of the Opera.

Rudolph Valentino as The Sheik.

David Carradine as "Bill" in Kill Bill, and Chia Hui Liu as Pai Mei in the same movie.

Denzel Washington as "Malcolm X", movie of same title.

George Clooney as "Seth Gecko" in From Dusk 'til Dawn.

Vin Diesel as "Riddick" in Pitch Black.

Laurence Fishburne as "Morpheus" in The Matrix.

You are so right I would add Spike to the list as Master material as well.  Especially during the season he was fucking buffy all over the place.  particularly loved the episode where Spike fucks her slow at the Bronze.  It made me wet.  I loved that series.  I would also like to add Mal and Jane from FireFly as Master material.  I find brutes like Jane  very attractive.  LOL

John Wayne in the Quiet Man.   Wooing Maureen O'Hara patiently but firmly.. dealing with her issues... finally losing his temper at her brattiness and dragging her over fields and stones to give her back to her brother... sighs.. best John Wayne movie EVER
