Simplicity and cohesive colours.

I can't play in messy/schizophrenic rooms. Pick a colour theme and stick with it! The worst is the awful multicoloured floral print blankets. Don't get me wrong, florals can be nice, but not when its like, red, orange and yellow flowers on a blue base. Also no stuffed animals. That goes for both girls and guys. Ugh. At least put your well worn snoopy toy in the closet when expecting company, because I'm not doing anything with him watching....not that that's ever happened... Also keep florescent lights out of there, those aren't flattering for anyone. And keep family pictures in the family room, the bedroom is no place to be staring at your parents.

Soft fabrics like velvet & velour and low lighting

My first answer would be the person in it... However that said...I can tell you how Master and mine is decorated and see if it inspires ideas

room size 14x25
The wall color used to be lavender pink pepto bismol.. having stood it as long as I could they are now covered with a color called moonlight silver ( no primer over the pink) which has the walls toned to a soft dove gray, that depending on the light can take up a warm purplish undertone or shade into a warm taupe. Trim and ceiling are white.

Carpeting is a medium blue but that will change soon to dark bamboo flooring.

Curtains are Dark brown subtle brocade pattern over the 2 windows. The bed is framed by one window.

The bed queen sized and pillow topped. Comforter and bedding in Browns and Tans, or natural for the sheets. Egyptian cotton, high thread count.

There is a natural 6' Flokati at the foot of the bed on the floor for relaxing on while playing or watching TV.

8'x7' bookcase on one wall stained ebony.  On the opposite wall are 6 Grayscale pictures of body parts of female submissives in various poses and closeups arranged in a stretched diamond pattern. (bound torsos, locked genitalia etc.)

One wood dresser, 1 night stand, wrought iron lamps and at the far end of the room is the TV on a desk with Candles and Water fountain on the shelving above it. That last will change when we can afford a second flat screen tv..then we will float shelves for the Candles et al. and place a small curved seat there. We still have to do a decorative cover for the Winch and get a hanging plant for the ceiling link for the suspension hook.

All in all it is a very peaceful room, relaxing for sleep, and at the same time easy to set the right mood with lighting and candles when we want to play.

Hope this helps

Exactly! and in rich complimentary colours.

My bedroom is for relaxing and sleeping. The basement is for "other" activities.

And some naked slaves in attendance just makes the picture complete.  [:D]

JerryInTampa -> RE: sultry bedroom decor (1/13/2009 12:27:19 PM)

I can't say that "sexy" has ever been a focus of my bedroom decor. Certainly comfortable/relaxing. Conducive to sex (a lack of distraction) has been useful: so sturdy furniture, a lack of brick-a-brack, space, neutral colors.

Now the play room is designed to be intimidating. Dark, sturdy, stain-resistant. Does that count?

We have king size hot red leather bed and a cheval mirror that is painted high gloss white and surrounded by lights like a theater mirror and not much else at this stage.    We like the idea of some sub sluts, we have potential start for that position in the next few weeks.

For me, I would let the woman decorate it, she just has to know one thing.
Since I was a kid I have always wanted to spend every night in a whore house!
Doesnt have to be gutter slut whore house, it can be a upscale whore house , but a whore house none the less!!!!

MarsBonfire -> RE: sultry bedroom decor (1/13/2009 7:19:27 PM)

Queen size beds are preferrable to king, simply because when you spread eagle someone, their wrists and ankles are much closer to the corners of the matress.

I agree with the cheval mirror suggsetion... although I think a mirrored ceiling is a bit too tacky.

I love beds that are very firm, since they give you some leverage, and their height should be just slightly below crotch level, to make penetration nice and deep and solidly levered against the floor.

Lots and lots of huge throw pillows. Great for placing under hips, or leaning back against, or just to cushion the heavier thrusting or thrashing. They're comfy to sleep against too... Try some of the ones sold as doggie beds. They are surprisingly comfy, and can also be used for you sub/slave to sleep on the floor at your feet, if you are into that sort of thing.

Color pallet is too much of a personal choice to give an opinion on, but I've found that warmer Earth tones tend to make a space feel much more welcoming, safe and comfortable... like you don't want to leave it, no matter what goes on there. Oh, and indirect lighting is a must... either candle sconces or stanchions, or at the very least something like shaded sconces. (Track lighting is fine, but make sure it's on a dimmer... and don't be shy about taping some theatrical gel onto them for special evenings... try a shade called "Rosco fire"... it does wonders for people with problem skin.)

Art, too, is a personal choice. I took several jpeg files of my favorite Manning, Willie and Eneg art to a shop with an oversize laser printer, and paid for a set of poster size printouts on buff paper. Framed, they look spectacular. But your tastes might run more toward one sheets for movies like Story of O, 9 1/2 Weeks, or Secretary. The sky's the limit on this one. Let the art say something about your passions. The bedroom is YOUR space, and it should ultimately be an expression of who you are... after all, you will be spending 8 to 10 hours each day in it.

I would never trade my king sized bed for another queen sized!!

I think the key for a good bedroom is less is more. I do not have any dressers in mine, they are in the walk in closets. Just the bed, a small table on each side, and my chaise lounge with a very small book table beside it. Lighting is important, I hate ceiling lights. One one side table I've got a beautiful big stained glass table lamp. On the other a smaller stained glass lamp. Near the chaise a very cool floor lamp that looks like it came from a high class french whore house, the shade is rather small for a floor lamp but it is dark red silk, with beads and rosettes....cool as hell. On the walls several beautifully framed old pin-ups from the 20's - 40's and one round art deco antique mirror. The curtains are a dark greenish brown heavy silk.

One very important thing, get the best bed, pillows, sheets, bedding, you can possibly afford. You will never regret it.

It isn't looking like shelves lined with Big Bird, Grover, Cookie Monster, & Simba, and the big toy box & play kitchen in my room isn't cutting it.

pahunkboy -> RE: sultry bedroom decor (1/13/2009 8:10:36 PM)

...since you brought it up.   Window treatments that dont let others see into the bedroom.   -as well as not having then walls to over hear all the commotion.

Vendaval -> RE: sultry bedroom decor (1/13/2009 8:17:28 PM)

I forgot to mention, avoid shag carpeting, it is a bitch to remove candle wax and other hardened fluids after a major session.  Of course if you like to torment your slaves by having them do tedious cleaning jobs...

the fact that it's not 1974 is also a helpful reason to avoid shag carpeting :-p

Also sexy; windows that open. Fresh air is way hotter than incense or scented candles. Those are nice too, they're just better when there's good ventilation. And as someone mentioned previously, mirrored ceilings are tacky as hell.
