Hey, my name is Ginger I've just started to accept who I am and that's a female.  I'm just looking for some help and support from some people who want to help or who have been there.  I don't want to be confused with people who just have a fetish and who are into it for sex only.  I'm a virgin in every way because it is something I want to give to someone special (a female)  I just want someone to help me be who I am and I'm open for more if that person is the right one. =)  I just want to be me and for someone to help me with it. ^^ Thanks!

I would suggest using the search feature, because on this particularly serious subject, I haven't enough knowledge or experience to be helpful.
Welcome to the boards, and good luck, M

I would join FetLife and join the trans groups on there.

Ginger - be very sure that what you feel is genuine. Getting it wrong is deadly.

There are lots of threads on the Mistress boards - where this comes up fairly often - which provide lots of information, though you will have to dig for them. There are dozens of websites too - but search for gender dysphoria and the like to avoid the fetishistic fantasy porn sites.

First and most important bit of advice; dont expect anyone to help you with this. You might get help of course, in which case good luck to you, but its rare. Also dont do this for anyone but yourself. And dont expect it to be anything but the most difficult and dangerous thing you will ever do, and most likely the most lonely too. And dont expect it to be all roses and sunshine when you get near to what you want - the honest fact is, no one else gives a damn and life goes on, the only difference will be that you will be female rather than male, and facing female problems instead of male problems (in case you are under any illusions that women have it easier). And expect a lot of problems in forming romantic relationships. Yes, its tough - very tough. Expect to be ostracized by family and friends, dismissed from work and unemployable, harassed, abused and assaulted. This is not for the faint hearted and not for fantasists.

On the other hand, at 21 and assuming you have the resources to deal with a genuine condition, youre best placed to succeed.

Thank you Ellen, I know this isn't going to be easy but I know who I am.  The hardest part right now is getting the courage to actually do something.  I'm only 21 years old but I've been through more than most people go through their entire lives and I'm still here.  I sometimes wish that I had it easy but I know I won't be happy until I'm who I'm supposed to be.  But I know is going to be the hardest thing to go through yet and I just need to build up the courage to do so.  I have no idea how to shed this fear if it's even possible to.

I dont know what to tell you Ginger, or even if you should listen to a word I say.

For me it reached a point where doing something about it was the only option.

I went through two years of hell. And I mean that.

But I had it easy compared to most - I passed as female without too much problem, from day one.

The last five years have been better. The one thing I lost - my job - I replaced with self employment being lucky enough to be in a sector where that was an option. But if my company goes down - as well it might in the current climate - I wont get a job and I'll lose everything and I might think differently.

Was it worth it? Overall, yes. Would I recommend it? Not at all, unless there's no other option.

I have to agree with Fullfig on this one.  The issue is so very important and so personal a decision that only the best informed sources should be utilized both on the net and in person. People with a personal experience would be who I would seek out.  The BBC had an excellent show I saw months ago that you might be able to find in their archive.  At some point it really is going to come down to one on one conversations with a counselor  so that YOU are satisfied that going further is the right thing for you.  Good luck to you....

Ginger,

Do some searches, and learn as much as you can. Talk to others here in the same situation, and others who are not.

I wish you well.

Welcome!!

I should and I am listening to what you're saying Ellen.  You're telling me how it is and you're not sugarcoating it one bit, it's stuff that I need to know and prepare myself for as best as I can.  It's important that I know how hard it's going to be and I really need to plan everything out better.  It actually helps a whole heck of a lot. =)
