Hi.  I haven't posted in a long time, but somethings been creeping me out lately...

Some creepy guy posted me a message who wanted to talk to me via Yahoo IM.  I just told him I'm talking to someone else at the moment.  The guy struck me as a creep -- him being pictured in a turtleneck out in the wilds of Nebraska (where he said he lived) with a stern look on his face.  His other two pictures had an extremely dorky grin.

Anyways the Dom I was in correspondence with told me the same guy contacted him saying he had some slaves to sell(!)

Now this really spooks me out.   People who take slavery literally.  This is not what I came into the BSDM scene for.  I've been told there's some in the scene that do not view slaves as lovers or even friends...  It makes me wonder what alot of people are really getting out of BSDM -- if it's all in good fun or if some people are truly using it to manipulate people and cause real damage.

Use block and delete for those people who contact you that 'spook' you out.
It may not be what you came into BDSM for but it may be for others.

Correct i'm one of them

I get plenty out of it but i'm guessing you wouldn't understand what considering your comments on selling slaves and not wanting them as lovers or even friends. I'm not manipulated and i'm not damaged

My suggestion would be you get on with your kinks and leave others to theirs.

Greetings..

You would be surprised by the number of slaves who are seeking just such persons who will not view them as lovers or friends and who will have no quams about selling them. For some this goes well beyond bdsm or attempting to re-define the literal implications of slavery. The number of those seeking to make their fantasy of being kidnapped and sold into slavery is present, and appears valid to them just as any of our fantasys we wish to make reality are.

I've sold my body for usage over short periods of time.  I've been exchanged by my owner for overnights and weekends.  What do I get out of it?  Fulfillment of self.

Try not to presume what will damage me :)

There are a probably many reasons people get into BDSM, and some for the same reason as you. I am not a slave, but i will tell you i did not enter my D/s relationship for fun and games. I am very serious about it and live it as a lifestyle. Somethings, I dont understand however others do and they make valid points towards different subjects. I do not need Sir to be emotionally in love with me. I serve him because of a strong need within me. Is it easy, no it isnt. It isn't fun and games, it is disciplining myself to let him lead. I not a brat or whatever it is called in BDSM, I think SAM, not sure on that. I work hard at doing what he needs, even when i dont want to, which is the hardest part of it.

I don't do the property thing, therefore I won't be sold.  Basically, I want my cut of the proceeds.  I think I'd resent the fuck out of someone who didn't cut me in on the deal.  And, I'd want a union.  But, to each their own.  :)

Now this really spooks me out.   People who take slavery literally.

There are those who are consensual slaves (meaning they are not literal slaves).  And then there are those who claim to be literal slaves.  I understand and appreciate the former, whereas I dismiss the latter as fantasy portrayed as reality (ie: a lie).

Much more on this subject in the coming issue of TDV.

That was pretty much my point.  That it's consensual.  I'd only be a slave to someone I really liked...

Nonconsensual slaves exist in the USA.  This has nothing to do with any BDSM scene.  I won't pull up links to news stories, but I and other posters have before.  Suffice it to say that a lot of my friends are immigrants, and I know people in real life who were in this category at one time.

Toss in the kink factor, and mozartsfuneral is not the first BDSM/sex slave I've heard of who was sold.  They've all been women sold to men, though.  There were a couple women in Detroit, maybe three years ago.  Property ownership and transfer is a real kink -- and both women and men made the best of arranged marriages for hundreds of years.  Only the "consensual" part of this is new.

There are as many reasons for being involved in BDSM as there are people involved in BDSM.  Your reasons are yours and they work for you.  My reasons are mine and they work for me.  Getting into a discussion about what kinks are ok and what are not is not going to be productive.

In every walk of life there are people who are trying to manipulate others and cause real damage.  BDSM or religion or anything else doesn't change that fact.  It is part of human nature.

Beyond that, some stories are a bit fantastical and while I'm sure there ARE people who do just what they say they do, there are also people who would like to believe their own lies.

Right on both counts.  Which, although interesting, is irrelevant to those making an association to legitmate non-consensual slavery and BDSM.

Nor the only one I've heard of either.  But in each case the transaction was consensual, negating it as an example of legitimate non-consensual slavery.

Agreed.
