I have to smile at the line about peasants who have done well. Since you have got a jag and all that.

Spotted, son.  Shouldn't that be a Citroen Deux Chevaux?  Although Lady E claims to be a LibDem and attends all the meetings, scratch the surface and you'll find a true-blue Tory lurking within.  Drinks "rind" et the Rugby club anyone?

Still fighting a class war like the Tories m'dear?

The left is determined to keep people poor so theyll get votes and the right is equally determined to keep their sort rich so they can perpetuate their power.

Both sides are determined to maintain outward appearances that match their allegiances - this is where the confusion in yourself and PS53 (and the problem landlord and neighbour and the locals here) arises in my owning a Jag - it befuddles doesnt it? It unnerves, its incongruous, its just wrong in that old socio-economic model? Its a threat to that order of things in which left and right thrive?

Its all rather gratifying.

That model has passed. Its redundant. Change is in the air that is more than the catchphrases of left and right that pretend to change but actually and desperately seek to revivify the dying model on which left and right rely; coincidentally catchphrases coined in the stark recognition of the end of that model.

Scratch the red and blue off the surface of the electorate, and one finds a glorious orange layer beneath, going all the way to the core.

Now if we could only get people to stop voting for turds painted the right shades of red or blue in all those safe seats, we'd be home and dry.

I quote you in full for one reason:  it's clear that you simply cannot engage in debate.  You've summed up neither my nor PS's viewpoint.  And your arguments have no intrinsic worth. I mean, if the left are determined to keep people poor and the right to maintain privilege, they'd be identical, not opposed.  Must do better.

As for the old Jag, I doubt very much that it's really the source of much real envy in 2008.  Perhaps they don't like it because it's a heavy polluter.  Maybe it's you they don't like and could give a fuck about your motor.  Have you tried just having a chat with them, instead of simply chucking their bins in the street?

The chat has been had. The position is clear. If they dont get a cut, or its something they havent directed, it aint happenin'.

Thats fine by me, I can be an awkward sod too. Thus, bins off my vehicle access.

But I digress - since I am now not only a "closet tory" but "unable to engage in debate" it would seem that I may have hit some raw nerves with you I assume?

Throwing insults and refusing to answer - and where possible to demolish - points that are advanced, doesnt reflect well on you. Its the sort of thing someone might do when they have no answer and are rattled, but dont want to consider the situation.

calling me a closet tory I regard as an insult RL, in much the same way you would regard it as an insult if I labelled you similarly.

at bottom left is a button "hide"; if you press this you wont have to read my posts and get all excited about them, and then we wont have to have these ridiculous sessions and can get on with something more profitable in life.

But I'm not excited.  I merely disagree with some of the views you have expressed here and think it's wise to get on with your neighbours instead of forcing a showdown.  I had a neighbour dispute about three years ago but got the guy talking and we are genuine friends now, even though I moved house not long after.

Remember, you don't know me and this is a written medium.  Its is possible, yes, even for you, to mistake and misunderstand people and you should expect disagreement with your views, not rail against it.

I dont mind disagreement if its substantiated - I get to learn things after all. I dont learn anything from being labelled and insulted (you are unable to debate) except that someone doesnt like what I'm saying. I dont think I misunderstand anything when people refuse to debate.

I'm happy to call a truce and debate the points more closely - thats the point of this after all. If I want insult and confrontation I can go to the pub after all.

Just for the record, I never called Ellen that.  I called her a one nation tory.  She called me a new labour supporter.  No drama.

Meanwhile sales of Socialist Worker outside the Tube stations of South London are doing better than ever.

Some Tories, such as Boris Johnson, do have their uses.

Boris is a problem - he's really quite likeable as a stereotype upper class buffoon.

Rather see him presenting on BBC though; he was very good on Have I Got News..... and he is very good on the new thing about Europe after Rome that was on last night
