Okay, okay, okay.
The powers that be have finally admitted what most of us have
known for a long time!

We are in a recession, and we have BEEN in a recession for 1 year.

Looks like we will soon be rolling into year #2.
Surprise, surprise, surprise.

Now that it is finally public knowledge, the next question is how much longer
will the current "recession" last?

It's official: U.S. in a recession since December 2007 - Dec. 1, 2008

So now the Powers That Be are admitting this publically?
Do we win a prize for knowing something before they did?

Yeah, when I start paying much more for gas, food and heat, and my income stays flat, I don't give a fuck what any administration tells me about my economic status. I learned subtraction in first grade.

I like Truman's "definitions": when your neighbor loses his job, it's a recession. When you lose yours, it's a depression.

Or house, for that matter, and EVERY house in my neighborhood (except mine--been here 20+ years) changed hands in the past few years, half from foreclosure, half from fleeing to other jobs far away.

Doesn't take an expert.

Heck I have been saying it for the past 6 years but no one ever listens to me. When the prices go up, up, up..and the value goes down, down, down..we all know the reason the economy is bleeding, the government says spend, spend, spend...( to the tune of the old Robert Hall commercial some NY'ers may remember).

Batten the hatches and hang onto your jobs this may be an E ticket ride.

I have a good friend whose judgement and knowledge I trust who warned me of this recession two years ago. He stopped me from making soem dreadful mistakes. He tells me that he is keeping his cash ready for a property shopping spree just before next christmas when he predicts things will sharply go up again.
I can see it being a really bad year  and very hard on the vulnerable.

My point is that now they have admitted that we are in recessions, how long until they admit we are in a depression?

Actually Vendaval, calling the recession was easy!
The big prize will go to those of us {me included}that have stated we are

headed for a deep recession/or depression.
To tell you the truth, that is a prize I don't want to accept, but given the state
we are in, I don't see how it won't happen.

lol. "they" won't admit shit, until we are "way past", serious trouble.
You can bet on that.

I totally agree, it does not take an expert.
But people hate to admit or even SEE bad times, it is hard to see "bad times",
serious changes in the way many of us will have to live.
I call it "The end of an era".

That actually works well for the "powers that be", it takes a lot for the average
person to see what is really going on, and that also helps to "control" the masses.

We sit and see people losing their jobs, the  failing housing industry, everyone and their
dog needing a bail out, lack of good paying jobs, the national and global economy spiraling
downhill, on and on and on, but many
hate to admit shit is getting ready to hit the fan.

won't happen. depressions don't exist anymore. it's not because they don't occur...it's because they have been defined out of existence.

My goodness, something I  agree on!
They will probably never call it a depression, they will call it a serious, deep and long lasting

recession, but many will know what it really is.
You can actually call things whatever name you want, but in the end it does not change what the thing IS.
