ORIGINAL: Musicmystery Yeah, when I start paying much more for gas, food and heat, and my income stays flat, I don't give a fuck what any administration tells me about my economic status. I learned subtraction in first grade. I like Truman's "definitions": when your neighbor loses his job, it's a recession. When you lose yours, it's a depression. Or house, for that matter, and EVERY house in my neighborhood (except mine--been here 20+ years) changed hands in the past few years, half from foreclosure, half from fleeing to other jobs far away. Doesn't take an expert. I totally agree, it does not take an expert. But people hate to admit or even SEE bad times, it is hard to see "bad times", serious changes in the way many of us will have to live. I call it "The end of an era". That actually works well for the "powers that be", it takes a lot for the average person to see what is really going on, and that also helps to "control" the masses. We sit and see people losing their jobs, the failing housing industry, everyone and their dog needing a bail out, lack of good paying jobs, the national and global economy spiraling downhill, on and on and on, but many hate to admit shit is getting ready to hit the fan.
