popeye1250 -> Do you keep a lot of cash at home? (12/1/2008 10:55:48 AM)

I've always had a coffee can or two filled with pocket change that I clean out from my jeans when I come home.
Also, I have about $3,000 in one dollar bills that I'm saving for a trip to Ireland or maybe Argentina.
When we were kids a friend of mine always had money.
I asked him where he got it one time and he told me; "I found Grampy's stash!"
His grandfather, an old fashioned Italian owned greenhouses and grew tomatoes and flowers and always did business in cash.
One time when the house was empty my friend took me into the house downstairs into the cellar and showed me this huge box filled with bundles of bills with elastic bands around them!
There must have been a couple hundred grand in there!
So, anytime he needed money he'd sneak down to Grampy's cellar and peel off a ten or twenty dollar bill and grampy was none the wiser!

Cash? What's that?

Lynnxz -> RE: Do you keep a lot of cash at home? (12/1/2008 11:01:06 AM)

Haha that's messed up... stealing from grandpa.

Yes, I keep much of my money at home.

Oh, he didn't just steal from Grampy!
He was an Alterboy at the church too! (LOL!)

No, I don't keep much cash at all on hand. I don't need to. That boy should consider himself fortunate I was not his mother. My son had a "sticky fingers" period in his youth. I made sure he suffered greatly. He still talks about a few of the creative punishments I concocted for him.

Kittin, what the hell have you done to get yourself put on probation?!?!?

Rarely have much cash on hand  ... today around $25 which is more than the usual and it is only because I know I will need this week to pay for parking  .. easier just to carry around my bank ATM card to pay for stuff as needed

I have .63 cents in my pocket. Its very very rare I have cash in my wallet and its usually for things like parking or a vending machine when I know I won't be near a good fountain or something.

Got an address for us to check out? I love a good treasure hunt.

Personally, I don't keep a lot of cash at home, but I do have a jar for change I keep filling. When I was living in an apartment though, I had to hide it. For some reason my roommate didn't think it was stealing if it was only change he took.

Ha... it took me a second to realize he stole from the church... 'Alterboy' brings up a different image these days. [:D]

I spend money less if I keep it at home for some reason. I cash in small bills for 100's, and staple them together when I get 10.

I lost my purse and had to cancel my ATM. I didnt know I would have it returned 3 days later. I still have no ATM. Do you know how hard it is to operate without it? I actually went to the grocery store and had to stick to a budgeted amount that I had in my wallet. Now I am down to about 4 dollars. i really hope i get my card in the mail soon!

Aneirin, this guy was a THIEF!
He worked at a convenience store owned by two Italian gunsels both with an affinity for the race track.
He was probably clipping them for $100 a week and this was back in the 60's.
They'd come in seperately and clean out the register and head to the track.
Before they did he'd take his cut and if the other guy would say, "hey, aren't we a little low today?" he'd just tell him, "Mario/Dominick was in about an hour ago!"
To which Mario/Dominick would say; "That son of a bitch!"
LOL, it was hillarious, they were both stealing from each other and he was clipping BOTH of them!
He had his own horse at 16 which he boarded.
And a brandnew Mustang convertable at 17.

I rarely have any cash at home or otherwise.  Often I don't even have a dollar.  I keep the cash in the bank and use debit cards.

Haha, next time you have to cancel your card, call them and tell them to ship it next day. It's a little extra, but if you don't have cash it's worth it.

Unemployed makes that a NO!

BitaTruble -> RE: Do you keep a lot of cash at home? (12/1/2008 11:24:43 AM)

Generally, we only keep about $40-$50 around in cash (for pizza, incidentals, etc.) but we needed tip money and stuff for this week and the trip so we have a bit more than that .. about half of it is in Euros.

This thread reminded me that I need to go take our change to the store and get some bills. There's probably somewhere around $50 or $60 bux worth of change in the jar.

NuevaVida -> RE: Do you keep a lot of cash at home? (12/1/2008 11:25:19 AM)

I don't keep much cash at home. Anyone who stole for me - related or not - would no longer be allowed in my home.

pahunkboy -> RE: Do you keep a lot of cash at home? (12/1/2008 11:26:12 AM)

It really is not a good idea to post on a public message board one way or the other....

today tho, I scored $80.00 in nickels.   Nickel is pretty much the best coin if the dollar is phazed out.  I did see a blurb that $100 bills could be phazed out.  well due to terrorism, they would have to be "checked" which would take an unknown amount of time.  anyhow- a nickels melt value is currently 2.5 cents. so while a dollar woujld lose 90% a nickel could lose only 50%.

the nasty rumours online, I swear, that one said there will be massive bank runs in February.

the new monitary system will be a debit card.  this so they can deduct taxes from it. it will be tied to your social security number. any and all transactions must occur this way as cash itself WILL BE PHAZED OUT.
I ask, why does the IMF have an interest in social security.

due to fractional banking if the ratio is 20 to 1, then 5% is enough to kill the entire system.

so what to wait for is the collapse of our money, then after massive protests, in due time a  kind hearted gloabist banker will come to our rescue.

how ever- we will forfeit perpetual rights to all natural resources.     the key word perpetual.    see Argentina

I can't say for sure because Bill decides how much cash I have at any particular time. I'm talking of course of my friend and companion Bill Payments.
