does anyone feel uncomfortable about posting an image of themselves online that can be noticed by anyone even when your working at a vanilla job and you don't want them to know what your into? i.e. tattoo  or body piercing

persephonee -> RE: tattoos (11/30/2008 12:15:25 PM)

i dont particularly care in my case...i dont think i could possibly lose my job over an online thing...but there is a moral turpitude clause in my licensure...just more than likely not enforced...ill let you know when i am forced to be a greeter at Wal-Mart....

Since I've got my face quite visible on my profile, which is far more noticable than any tattoo or body piercing, I would have to say I am not worried.

GreedyTop -> RE: tattoos (11/30/2008 12:20:37 PM)

I imagine that most of those who have body mods done in visible places(i.e. when fully clothed) probably work in settings that are aware of them.  Those with not so easily seen mods, I would guess, havent exactly shown them off in the workplace.  So as long as a face pic isnt available, I don't think it would be a problem.

But I could be wrong.

If anyone at my work who actually knows me (the company I work for is huge) doesn't know that I'm pierced and tattooed by now, and that I'm rather outre, they're blind and deaf. *chuckles* Frankly, I suspect that the only problem would develop if I failed to consider the sensibilities of our clients when I met with them, which is something that isn't in my nature, so it won't be an issue.

I am discrete around our clients -- they're all suffering, and frankly, at that point it isn't about me and my weirdness... it's about giving them a sense of security and peace. I wouldn't mind answering their questions if they asked -- I'm not ashamed of who I am or what I do by any stretch.... but frankly, if the question came up, it would mean that I had already disrespected their fragile state.

On the other hand, people know that I will happily care for anyone, and not be shocked or disturbed by our clients who are tattooed, pierced, collared, or of different spiritual beliefs, where someone else might have issues that would make them 'stiff' with our patients when those patients are in need of people who are open, warm, and understanding.

I'd figure that, if anyone saw my picture on one of the places that I post, it's because -they- are interested in this stuff, too -- and as I said, if someone were to ask, I'd have no problems answering them.

aravain -> RE: tattoos (11/30/2008 12:33:07 PM)

Hah, I don't even show my face on this website because of an intended job.

Likewise, I don't have a facebook, or any blogs where my name is mentioned.

I'll give you a hint, it rhymes with preacher but starts with a t ;)

But I *also* have tattoos, and while they're becoming increasingly common for even teachers, I wouldn't want to show them off at work (one is on my chest, the others are on my arms and legs) purely because I'd have to be wearing highly unprofessional stuff to even show them off in the first place.

So I wouldn't mind showing them on a website as long as my face wasn't attached to it (who wants kids going "Mr. Teacher... SHOW ME YOUR TATTOO!" in class"?).

If my name was attached, then I'd likely be ok as long as no other identifiable info was.

trealeon -> RE: tattoos (11/30/2008 1:09:25 PM)

I, like aravain, have a job where I have to make sure that anything I have online is very clean cut and moderate. I do have a facebook but it's very sterile and several employees are on facebook because my job has its own facebook network. I know that when I post pictures on here, it will be pictures that wouldn't allow anyone to really recognize me or her. My girl is kind of the same way, she doesn't have any kind of social network profiles. Even though I list her in this one, it's really more for me than her.

Aszhrae -> RE: tattoos (11/30/2008 1:29:23 PM)

Girl would say in concern to anyone seeing the tat upon my back. That it is unique to me and that it holds a special meaning. If they wanted to know more they can ask.
If my dominant was to place her tat that is personalized to her and that it was a symbol of who girl belongs too. Girl would not be ashamed concerning such inquiries.
It is possible that such explanations might cause others to be disgusted if such occurrence took place. Can only perceive that such reactions would be the result of misinformation and might require clarification.
Girl certainly believes that no one really has any business telling a submissive how they should treat their body than their present dominant. Be how many piercings or how many tats that you are allowed to have.
It really comes down to being comfortable in your own skin. Tats and piercings are augmentations that either you have added by someone else or by your own hand.
When it comes right down to it, it really is about you and how you feel.

teensub -> RE: tattoos (11/30/2008 1:36:53 PM)

Yeah tattoo wouldnt bother me as there are obvious pictures of my face on there. So my tattoos are the least of my worries.

littlewonder -> RE: tattoos (11/30/2008 2:02:19 PM)

I've had face, identifying marks photos posted for about 10 years now and never not once have I ever had a single person cause me a problem or confront me.

I have had men approach me in public who recognized my photo but it wasn't a big deal. They had profiles on this site as well. If they were going to out me they would out themselves as well.

Either way though it's never been a problem for me. I've never really been concerned if someone sees me on here.

voxpoet -> RE: tattoos (11/30/2008 2:51:52 PM)

No.

akisha -> RE: tattoos (11/30/2008 3:06:22 PM)

I have my face and a very unique tattoo showing clearly in my profile

avinyl -> RE: tattoos (11/30/2008 3:26:18 PM)

If you do, then don't.

My tattoo helps people find me at clubs. *shrug*

Why limit this to tattoos or body piercings? Why not include scars which are just as individual if not unique?

Maya2001 -> RE: tattoos (11/30/2008 4:03:30 PM)

I doubt too many  of us  are working in kinky professions .. if someone was going to out me at then they pretty much have to out themselves but even if would not cause me the loss of my job

glanstat -> RE: tattoos (11/30/2008 6:50:21 PM)

I have a lovely rose tattoo on my penis.  No problem showing it to any client or someone that was interested.  However very few clients have seen it, and those were special clients :).

sexisubi -> RE: tattoos (11/30/2008 6:58:17 PM)

Funny story!

i personally have another profile on another site that was a paid site called alt.com.

well one of my work 'nilla' (quotations cause what kind of things was he looking at that he could see my pic!) saw my picture... and knew immediatly it was me! He was an agent i was a supervisor (i considered myself lax though and chill) so he came up and said 'hey saw your picture on alt...' giving me a snide and sly look with corious eyes. i said 'did you... well what were you looking at there cheif' he just laughed the point is if you find me... great maybe we can have a lovely conversation about it and it will all be a memory. If you find me and care most likely you will just spread it as a romor or tell people around the office.

However, i do a fantasitic job in my work place. They can work me to the bone, and ill still shock them with creating different projects. So i say let the romors be spread i have work to do. ^.^

yourMissTress -> RE: tattoos (11/30/2008 7:10:15 PM)

No, don't care.  As long as I don't have the company logo tattooed anywhere that's visible, or watermarked on that picture of my face on my profile...I'm good.

It's not the concern of my employer what I do in my personal life.  Unless they are going to start paying my salary based on a 168 hour week.

Aszhrae -> RE: tattoos (11/30/2008 8:36:07 PM)

Certainly, each scar has a story and a lesson learned that goes right along with. (10 scars, 10 lessons well learned)

coupleowl -> RE: tattoos (11/30/2008 9:24:39 PM)

Doesn't bother me. In fact I have a picture showing off my Tattoo.
