What a great day! The laser pointers I ordered came this morning - I'd promised them for my feline horde last week but couldnt find them in any shop here so ordered online instead.

Everyone but Tessy is running round like an idiot after the red dot "prey"! And best of all theyre running as a pack - I have discovered the means of herding cats!

Tessy meanwhile is watching from the sofa - she knows whats going on I think and refuses to get involved.

Laser pointers, pack of 5 - £10-00. Cats running round like theyre insane - priceless.

I hope theyre enjoying it as much as I - they seem to be anyway?

Oooooo, I wonder if Lardo the Retardo, aka Pumpkin would go for one? (Having been an abandoned stray, he has "issues" and we're working with him learning to have fun again. He starting to play and tear around the house though so this might be the perfect time for a laser pointer!)

Thanks, Lady E.!

Monkey,
I went to a camping store for a flashlight (after the last blackout here in MD) & I bought one that had a laserlight on it also. Much better than the little ones you buy in a pet store & it lasts longer too PLUS you'll have the flashlight if your electricity goes out!

I have one poor kitty who will keep wandering around looking for the red dot for ten minutes after I turn the pointer off

I had one in Idaho that would just sit and stare at the wall, OneMoreWaste.... Don't feel bad.   That's how they train us!

You are way over paying for laser pointers. They should cost a dollar or less. I use them as throw a ways after the batteries run out. It is cheaper to buy a new one. I have a friend who has 2 cats. One will go after the pointer and the other one will slap it upside the head and call it stupid for doing so.

Oh yes, LadyE...I can run my to the point of collapse......well, 2 out of 3 anyway...Boo seems to have learned very quickly that ain't NO WAY they are gonna catch that thing......and it doesn't make any cool noises......Boo's fave toy is a pistachio nut in the bathtub at 3am.......I never knew the acoustics were so good in there!  But KB and Smooch will run after it like there's no tomorrow......add in a completely tiled floor, and oh, boy......they have a heck of a time starting and stopping!  Not to mention the head on collisions......waaaay too much fun for $5!

And Rain.....Punky da brat would LOVE one!  All cats will chase things, and the dot is the greatest!

I do worry though - am I stressing them out or are they having a great time chasing the dot?

Dogs - well they just love running about like idiots, but cats?

Well, LadyE, mine don't appear to be any worse for the wear as far as stressing about the dot.......of course, my cats have a shorter attention span than I do.....all I have to do is holler "Birdies are back!", and they drop everything and run to the window to see.  I have hummers at my feeders, and I think they think they are just big bugs........they are used to pigeons, sparrows and blackbirds.
