....closer.

Looks like Lieberman get`s to keep his secrete de-coder ring and his Senate post.

Mr. Obama has told Reid not to oust Lieberman.

Our President Elect has a bigger heart than I do,considering Lieberman implied Obama supported terrorism, called him a marxist, would cut off funding for our troops, etc. during the campaign.

So Judas can give back his 30 pieces of silver and hope for forgiveness.

I won`t give it to him and will send money to whomever runs against him next election.

We`ll see if Lieberman`s fellow Senators are as forgiving, when they vote.

As much as I think Lieberman is a little weasel, it's a good sign that Obama believes in what he says.

I believe Lieberman votes very strongly Democrat - so he's useful to them in many ways.  Frankly, it comes across like a good faith act - putting spite (understandable though it may be) aside for the good of the party.  I like it.

Unfortunately I must agree with previous posters,it is a good sign that President elect Obama can rise above the natural and quite understandable inclination to punish Lieberman's treachery.I am disappointed though on a purely personal level,I was looking forward to watching Lieberman get spanked.

So failing to wax poetic about the many virtues of our Dear Leader is now "treachery"?

Presumably it becomes treason after Jan 20 of next year?

Cute CL,but not exactly what I meant .The treachery I was referring to was his endorsment speech at the RNC,his following McCain around the country like a lap dog.All this after Obama had campaigned for Lieberman during his own Senate race...this in my mind qualify's as treachery.Do you have a different definition?
And just to put a fine point on it,endorsing McCain a man he claimed friendship of many years with is not for me the point, attacking Obama in the scurrilous way he did ...now that is the tipping point. So treachery works for me and I stand behind the claim.Dispute it if you like, but tell me would you trust this man,do you believe he acted honorably during this campaign?...if so our understanding of honor is a little different.

Care to name those Republicans who hitched a ride on the Obama express, joined at the hip, from rally to rally.I would be interested to know their names, cause I must admit off the top of my head I'm drawing a blank?
I do know many conservative Republicans expressed doubts about the qualifications of Sarah the baracuda, but I don't recall one that went out on the stump with Obama.

Obama is showing political class.  I like it too.  Would love nothing better than to be proven wrong in my doubts about his ability to lead the country.

What is dishonorable about supporting the man one knows is best suited to be President?  Or are we now reduced to being "right-thinking citizens" from whom dissent is no longer tolerated?

Lieberman did nothing dishonorable.  Quite the contrary.  Lieberman, unlike any others on the Democratic side of things, put the welfare of the country above his own immediate interests.

Granted, such ideals are considered unpatriotic in the noveaux regime this country has foolishly voted for itself, but Lieberman more so than even McCain is the politician who knows how to transcend party and be an American Senator and politician.

Dishonorable?  Hardly.  Treachery?  Not even close.  Only sin he committed was choosing not to be a part of Dear Leader's cult of personality.

Ultimate irony in all of this:  Hillary Clinton said this country could not afford another four years of the last eight years; the country seems to have disagreed with her.

You are right I am, and you are right there is no equivilant but there is similar. If you are going to apply to one in principle, then you must the other or it is hypocricy. I believe that if we think about applying things like this to people that are closer to our beliefs, it allows us a better look on whether it should or should not be done.

Joe acted as a politicians, he campaigned with his friend as a politician, and that is pretty much it. He said very similar things that Hillary said during the primaries, but it was okay for her to say it because? Do you see a little of what I am talking about now?

It may be best to keep your enemies closer, but even better is turning enemies into friends or allies.

Yes, Joe Lieberman, a man able to put put his honor before his self-interest.

I mean really, you are kidding with this right?

This is someone who turned his back on his own party to promote his self-interest instead of graciously accepting his loss in the Senate primary election.

This is someone who sought out and received Obama's support in that very campaign and paid him back by endorsing McCain.

This is someone who made an explicit promise, after endorsing McCain, not to engage in attacks on Obama.  Do you remember how he kept his word or should I give you links to some of his quotes?

It would seem we have very different definitions of honor if you find anything honorable in Joe Lieberman's actions.

The above post is nothing more than your opinion....an opinion repudaited by the electorate. But one in which you stubbornly cling to ,despite all evidence to the contrary.
How you can still put forth ths bullshit about 'best suited to the job",after McCain made a totally pandering and dangerous decision in placing the not ready for primetime Palin on the ticket is beyond me.
Of course your quite childish insistance on referring to the future President as our "dear Leader" does speak volumes....and is a starker comment on the rest of your post than the mods would ever allow me to make
