This is what I believe: The Magic of Love Magic transforms one thing into another: lead into gold. Love is the deepest magic: transforming who we are. It is the caterpillar becoming a butterfly. Love takes what we are, and inspires us to be better. Love takes what we do and gives it purpose. Love takes what we feel and gives it meaning. Love takes individuals and unites them. Love takes away our freedom to be uninspired, without purpose or meaning, to be lonely. We lose the freedom to think only of ourselves, to be selfish, to be cruel. Love takes from us the satisfaction of being "good enough". In Love we are always striving to be better than we were ... to find more within us to give to those we love. In Love another's happiness comes before our own. To be more than we were, we must let go of that which held us back. Love takes from us the fear and sadness, and gives us hope and joy. We are altogether transformed in the deep magic of Love. Love removes the dross from the gold, the chaff from the wheat ... ... only in Love can we achieve our full potential, for only through Love are we inspired to be selfless. Love is the magic that transforms pain into positive energy. I am all about 24/7 D/s. That is how I live my life and it brings me joy and pain. What do you think? Please, no sniping. [:D] Me

I take a much more pragmatic view of life. I have a lot of love in my life, through family and friends, but haven't been 'in love' in a long time. I think all the things you mention are things that I do as a decent person - being in love doesn't make me a decent person - having a strong character does. And I do believe being a strong, decent person with a good character will lead me to positive energies throughout my life. Romantic love would be a nice surprise ... but I'm really not counting on it to lead me to the better things in life.

mc1234, I also take a very pragmatic view of life. I also have not been 'in-love' in a long time. I love on my friends, my pets, and my D/s partners. And, yes, it is about being decent. Having a strong character is paramount and my whole life experiences have helped to shape me into a strong, independent person, woman and domme. A lot of people are stressed out right now and the purpose of this thread is to regenerate some of that good energy, to remind us of what really matters deep down. Don't get me wrong, I'm big on love. For me, it is the only real purpose to a lifelong partnership and anything else is simply wasting my time. That being said, in my best ability to understand what I see in "the scene", I've come to think that love is only a critical ingredient for those like me that, well, find it a critical ingredient. In the relationship recipe's I make, love is what makes it special. But other people have their own recipes and love may or may not be a part of it. At least, that's what my head tells me. My heart, honestly, cannot even remotely grasp that concept.

Exactly! That's why I asked for no sniping here. Everyone has their own way of viewing life and how they choose to enjoy it, including their BDSM proclivities.
