It does not make any difference who is president, they can do nothing.  If congress does not give them the backing and go along with them, nothing gets done.  It is required we have a president to sign bills or veto them.
Obama might have a democratic controlled house for two years and then they will be gone when nothing gets accomplished and the republicans will again control the house and possibly eventually the senate also.
Personally, I think Clinton got less done his first two years in office than the 6 years thereafter when the republicans controlled congress and worked with him.

Doesn't that mean that we should get a new congress this term?

One of the great things about going back and reading posts ...at least here you can always count on consistency!....
I like for the most part how it is we can totally disagree, never really effect the others opinion....and off we go again.
Some see nothing but doom and destruction based in a four year period, others see hope for something different.
Within the term of a President, aside from the chance of war or economic shifts, there really isn't that much that
really changes. If the economy doesn't improve under Obama in 4 years we will have another Republican and there will
be another change in congress like the times of Gingrich(Limbaugh really championed that) and we as a country will move right.
If Obama's plans work then we will re elect him and most of the congress and proceed. It is like I tell those who work for me
each week is new and there is a chance to reinvent what didn't work last week....We as a country can do the same with each election.
The American people are bright and resilient and we can keep what works and re invent what doesn't and as a whole it is the public that
does that. Read the posts....even those you disagree with....(with some exceptions that are done to enrage)....we here, are a microcosm
of America....look how smart each one of you are...your ability to find your voice and then express yourself. Agree or not with one another
it is those who think that can direct our country and we get that chance every time we have elections. If we miss we correct for the times that we are in.
I am so glad we are who we are and that we THINK and we care so much....as they say down here....y'all are somethin else!....and it's a great thing you are!!!!

That is the unfortunate part of most of the discussions, in that it's mostly like talking to inpenetrable walls.   I can happily report that I did help one co worker find needed info, and possibly affect a vote.   M
