Actually i am a pain in the butt about the freshness of food...except for what is kept on the door. I actually had a bottle of ketchup that turned brown. Ugh.

I haven't been able to quite tell what it is yet...it keeps crawling away from me when I try to catch it.  [&:]

Well, then, it's not old - it's quite young.

(Don't eat it.  No, no, too young!)

I have some very old garlic in oil, but it hasnt expired yet. I have only been living here for a year and a half after all... not enough time for any of the real hearty stuff to go over

Never refrigerate champagne!
Trust me. That's some nasty stuff there.

Oldest thing in my fridge... Well, I made my own condensed milk using vanilla soy milk. It sat in its container for about 3 months.

Oldest thing outside the fridge that I should have emptied...
Well, if it doesn't taste good... Spit it out, I always say.
So, spat it out, I did; and it grew into a city in that cup of water. My bad. [:-]

Once when I was digging in the back, i found a skeleton of a gecko [:o] I had no idea how it got inside, how long it took for the flesh to decompose, and how it managed to starve in the first place.

The skeleton is still in my house somewhere...

Those little packs of condiments from Chinese restaurants and fast food places.

You just never know when you might need a teensy packet of duck sauce...

CalifChick -> RE: Oldest item in your fridge (10/31/2008 9:33:58 AM)

An individual packet of string cheese that fell behind the crisper.  It was like a little rock.

A box of chicken broth, from Thanksgiving dinner last year.  I have 3 new boxes in my pantry.  [:D]  I also have something that is furry, slimy, and green in the crisper.  It no longer has a definite shape.  Daddy teases me that I am trying to grow talking food again.
