I apologize beforehand if this has already been discussed and I just couldn't find it.

Music is very, very important to me and I constantly make mix "tapes" for almost every situation and most of my close friends. I've been thinking about doing one for BDSM (when silence isn't implemented) but the results have been kind of all over the place. Beyond playing what my Dom would want (let's say He ordered me to choose), do you have any recommendations if you ever mix music with your sessions? Do you ever use it to alter the mood or ambiance of the scene(s)? Do you usually go by what would make the Dom feel more powerful or intimdating, or to influence the sub specifically (or both?) For some reason I would LOVE to see someone using Slayer for those purposes...

Also, for all the hilarious responses ("Speed polka, definitely!" "That 'Rawhide' song!") a 'real' one would be aces. :) I would love to make a compilation from the suggestions and offer it to anyone who would be interested.

Check the Music Thread in Polls and Random Stupidity this subject was brought up there ALOT.

As for my Usual Answers

I like German Techo, Scandanavian Death Metal (Which is actually really Pop and Electronica), And Savage Gardens To the Moon and Back. I also like Techno Mixed Classical Like Pacabel's Canon or Vivaldi's Four Seasons Specially the Summer and Winter Movements which are most commonly confussed with Classical Gas which is the Guitar Portion of those movements.

And Finally when all else Fails I really like using The Hampster Dance but you shoud be careful it has been known to cause insanity.

Industrial Music is nice too I really like Wolfsheim

LOL  try At the Gates or anything Gothenburg style...you will think twice to call scandinavian death metal pop or electronica
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scandinavian_death_metal

(unless you mean a band with that name of course...still..it would hurt me :(  )

The second it I hit send I knew I had made a mistake. You are correct and I am rather Mistaken. Scandinavian Death Metal is far from Pop and Electronica. But it has a very good beat, what I was thinking was J-Rock or Japanese Rock. Please forgive the mistake I was wrong.

DOM'T APOLOGISE!  If some people can't stand seeing the same subject twice maybe they should get out more.
Try Nightwish, who do astonishing tracks and awe inspiring videos that form a splendid backdrop for serious bondage and whipping stuff, drowns everything out nicely too.
Love song for a vampire by annie lennox could have been written for bondage scenes.

Personally the only music I could ever really get into headspace with is Juno Reactor (or anything similar) If you dont know who they are...they did the music for The Matrix.

I'd love to do a scene to The Kills' first two albums Keep Me On Your Mean Side and No Wow. Or, in that vein, something like The Archie Bronson Outfit's Derdang Derdang or The Hive's Veni Vedi Vicious.

Unfortunately, I've yet to come across a gay dom who likes rock, let alone indie punk bands like The Kills.

I don't generally mess with it. What comes to mind, though, is classical: Ravel's "Bolero". Forty-odd minutes from warm-up to climax. I'd hate to be limited to a premixed session, though, and every play partner is a different relationship with its own pace. Hell, every scene is different, with the pace and the mood an interactive mix of what both parties bring to it.

oh no problem...no need for forgiveness and such.
Death metal can be very "stimualting because of the fast drums and guitar rifs.
J-rock....yeah that is nice indeed....

I normal don't care so much for music while Domming ...as I don't plan my Domination. Normal a radio plays in the background...or what ever cd is in the player.
My music is not often liked by subs...beeing deathmetal/blackmetal..or doom. But I do listen to it..while I drive to them.

Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana" if you want music for a scenethat builds to something fairly violent! You probably know it from loads of movies and TV ads, but the inspriration for it was something fairly perverted anyway :)
