Other than the distinction that people expect to see posts in the first person because the view the boards is a concept of conversation dialogue and therefore, see it coming from a perspective of self. Third person speech when utilized properly reads as if the observer of the poster's post is reading a books and therefore, the text should not be confusing at all in a context sense, other than the observer expecting to see first person because the observer presumes the post is the opinion of the poster, and therefore, they are conditioned to look for first person to form the perspective of personal opinion. The issue that is seen is the idea third person speak is the replacement of i, me, my of the poster with another form of identification such as this girl, it, her etc without changing the sentence structure to accomodate the change. Many people who attempt to speak in 3rd person also become pronoun happy and that is also not the understanding of third person. When speaking in third person, it is wise to remember that its not about replacement but speaking in a way that allows the observer to read or listen with a third person ear, and should not be confusing at all as to what the context of the statement is. Other than the distinction that people expect to see me posting in the first person because the view the boards is a concept of conversation dialogue and therefore, see it coming from a perspective that when i speak i am doing so as myself. Third person speech when utilized properly reads as if the observer of my posts is reading a book and therefore, the text should not be confusing at all in a context sense, other than the observer expecting to see "me" the poster within the post because observer presumes the post is my opinion, and therefore, they are conditioned to look for me to be apparent in the perspective of personal opinion. The issue that I see is the idea third person speak is the replacement of i, me, my of the poster with another form of identification such as this girl, it, her etc without changing the sentence structure to accomodate the change. Many people who attempt to speak in 3rd person also become pronoun happy and that is also not my understanding of third person. When speaking in third person, I know it is wise to remember that its not about replacement but speaking in a way that allows the observer to read or listen with a third person ear to what i am saying, and should not be confusing at all as to what the context of the statement is. quote:
I'm going out to dinner with my Master This girl is going out to dinner with her Master Master is taking his girl out to dinner. Master is taking me out to dinner. Master is going out to dinner and taking along his property. When going to dinner tonight, Master is allowing his girl to accompany him. As a reward, Master has decided to take angel out to dinner. Master has chosen to take his girl to dinner tonight. Just a few examples of how it can not be confusing in context or the flow of the reading. The only thing that will have people stopping and pausing is not that they don't understand what is being said but will take a split second to recognize that the poster is speak of what is happening to her. The jist is the speaker and writer is not replacing herself with an obscure, she is completely removing the concept of identifying as herself and placing herself in the obscure land of not being self. When speaking in the third person, the observer of the post should not say oh, she is speaking in third person, but instead simply see a different style of writing that is perfectly understandable. When I am speaking in the third person, the observer reading my posts should not say, oh, she is speaking in third person, but instead simply see my writing as a different style that is still perfectly understandable. angel
