How about some examples of a program designed by each political party that was successful. How did it benefit you, and the American people? Can these benefits actually be seen and measured? How does a philosophy from that party tie into the program that was a success?

Now let us see if all those that can make post after post about negative things, can actually contribute something positive.

McGovern approached Dole about the school lunch program, ensuring each child got at least one hot balanced meal each day.

At the request of FDR, republians and democrats united to declare war on Japan.  It's been downhill from there.

I guess when I was a kid, the free lunch of milk, cheese,  tunafish salad, or something that looked like a deli meat was a good thing
the politicians did for us.

Otherwise, I really can't recall any bit of legislation from either party that has benefitted my family.  Ronnie Reagan was probably the
biggest help as a politician, coming into office with interest rates at 21% and mortgage rates at 15%...his resurection of the American
spirt killed by Jimmy Carter was a positive.

Clinton saving Mexico was probably a plus since a failure there at that time could have rippled through our economic system. Bob Rubin was probably the best person appointed in the Clinton Administration.

I've always been a huge fan of the Hatfield-McGovern Amendment. And while it was a noble effort in cutting off funding, it was equally noble in its attempt to thwart/bring attention-to excessive unitary power/privilege.

From what I read here, and what I have been lightly researching, is that there has not been anything really big that either party has done in a very long time. So why so we continue to allow the non-production on their side? Why do many people continue to vote for the same politicians if they are not actually doing any good?

In speaking with someone here locally I asked why he was going to vote for a particular Representaive if they felt they had not been doing their job, and their response was "but then a Democrat may get the job". WTF??? This country is so polarized in political parties that we will accept mediocre to bad performance just so the other team does not win?

Clinton did pretty well ,in spite of the pre neo-con conservatives.

He lead from the front and left his critics in the dust.

I think people will take competence over cum by ya and bubble gum trading,as long as folks are civil.

Though I give Clinton and Gore most of the credit,Clinton has always been gracious about sharing credit for the good economic times we had during his terms.

I`ve never heard a republican give Clinton credit tho,or for that matter, give Bush and co. any blame for the current state.

Since McCain is part of the Bush Administration, we can see how far that got us.  We are in the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression.
Obama is young. Fresh, and full of new ideas that appeal to the middle class.   McCain showed no compasion to the working people of this nation.  He only showed compasion to the top five percent.
McCain is a very rude and stubborn old man.

Clinton proved it was ok to be married, cheat on your spouse, and get a blowjob or 10 on the side.

Note that most anything positive people have said happened a long time ago.

Also note that it seems much easier to be negative than positive. No one as yet has answered the OP completely, and several didn't bother with anything specific. I believe that most just want something to complain about, or cheerlead for their team (politcal party).

Let's see...

Electrification of rural areas back in the 1930's
Establishment of the National Parks System
FDIC
Federal certification of lawyers, Doctors, and teachers
Women's right to vote
The Civil Rights Act of 1964
NOAA
NASA
The First G.I. Bill
The second G.I. Bill
The Veterans Administration
Federally gauranteed student loans
The national roadway and bridge initiative
JTPA
CCC (back in the depression)
Oh, yeah, and the US (headed by it's government) defeated the Kaiser, and the Axis.
FCC

And on and on...

That is actually false.  we have a multi party system but only 2 get any decent share of the attention. The people have been so brainwashed that they have to vote dem or pub that they will often ignore a better candidate running 3rd party.

Does that mean there are just 3 parties then?
If there is no choice between parties...they parties don't have towork very hard..I guess.
Peopel often vote out of habbit .
Some more parties will force them to work harder, so people can recoqnize them.

(although I admit that soemtimes the overview in my country is lost with all those parties)
