As a question of strategy, I think you would have to file the selection of Sarah Palin as his VP running mate under, "It seemed like a good idea at the time." As a previous poster mentioned, if they had just vetted her more, maybe they would have avoided all this "Wassila 90210" crap. As it is, she's pulling him down in the polls at a crucial moment. Nice convention bump, yes... but unsustainable when you have someone as your running mate who can't point out Darfur on a fucking map... Now John McCain can relate to how George Bush Sr. felt, when he chose Dan Quwayle.
