How do you as an "s" type handle the challenge of taking care of your dominant and doing what is in his best interest....even when they don't necessarily want you to?<snip>...

i don't; i'm not his doctor, his mother, or his nurse-maid and if he isn't doing what is in his best interest, then i highly doubt i'd belong to them in the first place.

what He creates is "soul food"...and as "bad" as it is, nutritionally, the cooking of it and the tasting of it feeds His soul and makes Him happy.

There is a lot to be said for this. If the human spirit isn't happy, then what's the point? All the vitamins, medicine, healthy eating and healthy living in the world isn't going to truly feed that person.

Irish Mist, so you know exactly what I'm talking about.

And beth, the remark about your skin tainting the flavor is hilarious. They're all from Spain on my Mom's side, and god forbid if anyone NOT Spanish even attempts to create a spanish meal. Have mercy upon the poor soul!

I think doing small things to help someone, like making sure there is healthy food choices in the house

While leaving a few low-fat chocolate bars lying 'round the home may earn you a pat on the head for consideration, I wouldn't expect wholesale change.

What amazes me is this concept of how we can hold onto those we love forever if only they would do this or that. Perhaps, we are that loved one that needs to change.

You know what folks?  First off, what's happened in the past can't be changed.  The damage we have done is there.  Secondly, changing someone with a prognosis of gloom, what is that gaining?  Making you feel better?  Honestly, get over yourselves.  What it really boils down to is can that person go without you feeling any guilt.  So hounding them about lifestyle issues, makes you feel better,  You just want to feel absolved of supporting bad habits.

Let people live. Let them die young, old, etc.  As long as their choices aren't affecting you, such as you being a passenger in a vehicle at 100 MPH while they had just drank a fifth of vodka, what difference does it make?  Who the fuck are you, Methusala?  Are you living forever?

Quit grasping on a the time you could have had, and instead, grasp on the time you have now.  Respect each other, love each other. If someone's habits, be it drinking, smoking, drugs, eating, exercise, etc. bothers you LEAVE THEM if it isn't going to work. If you love them that much, but they still keep doing those things, deal with it.

Honestly, the "we can live forever" type of thought just amazes me, as well as the selfishness of those who think that had someone only changed a habit, they would be here forever, if not now.

Get busy living, or get busy dying.  Your choice.

LMAO that is just too funny. I was going ot make cannoli once and he actually sneered at me that an Irish girl could not possibly do it right. . He insisted his mother come over to show me how to do it LOL...each time I tried to make something like that, I had to  have a chaperone

In regards to the OP though; I am actually surprised that so many feel the same way that I always did about something like this. Just goes to show that I can still be surprised

You know, it is not about holding onto them forever, it is about keeping them healthy and active while they are here.

Let's see;

If Scooter did not get his shoulder fixed pretty soon his inability to use it to hold me, to ride his HD, to drive his stick shift car would all be affecting me. No snuggles, no grabbing, no long putts in the country, etc......

If Jewel does not eat properly to manage her diabetes and loses a leg who do you think is going to be home taking care of her? Me, of course.

If i love something, i take care of it. People, plants, animals, motorcycles, if it is mine, it gets taken care of in every way possible, period.

i had to laugh....wolf said i made sauce BETTER than his mother did.

as far as the topic goes....TheEngineer has asked me that i remind him about certain things.  so i do.  bedtimes on weekdays, exercise.  its then up to him to act....because i'm his girl not his mama or his boss.

reminding him because he wants me to and ordering him arent the same things for me.  (of course when i go ahead and go off to bed at the bedtime he wants, he normally follows cause if i'm asleep he gets no snugglies.)

Whatever Man I choose to take up the roll of Master in my life will most certainly be in control of themselves. If they don't like something but it's important to their health, I shouldn't have to nag them like their mother to get them to take care of themselves.
