Just to let you know if you are planning to drive to upstate South Carolina in the next couple of days, we are experiencing gas shortages.   Last night Greenville, Greer, and parts of Spartanburg were totally out of gas.   NC has had shortgages and they were out of gas.  They have been drving down here to purchase it.  The price is still stable because the Attorney General's office has fined a few for price gouging.
Spinx filled up this afternoon.   I will get gas in the am in they still have it.  If not, I will wait.

A friend of mine is in Charlotte for the Fetish Fair Fleamarket and she says that many stations there are out of gas as well.

[image]http://www.collarchat.com/micons/m25.gif[/image]didn't anyone hear that the pipelines are being closed for repairs because of the damage caused by hurricane Ike?  they have asked us all to conserve and to please only pump 10 or less gallons at a time when we are below 1/4 tank.  to prevent the problem that u describe.   No one listens!

       I've been seeing bits of this on the news.  Here is CA, prices have been steadily dropping for several weeks.

the reason for the shortages is that people panic, so they rush to the gas station to get gas like when people hear that snow is coming, they rush to the grocery to get bread & milk!  duuuh!

They've been dropping steadily here in Oklahoma as well.  Heck, just in the past 6 days, I've seen it go from $3.38/gal to start the period to $3.15/gal as of earlier tonight.  That's at the station closest to my place, 6 blocks in one direction - at their closest competitor (6 blocks in the Other direction) it's still sitting at $3.37/gal, down from a peak of $3.59 during Ike.  (Needless to say, they're getting very little business lately.)

I have lived outside of SC.  I am well traveled.  Don't be like McCain and allow your prejudice to cloud your judgement.  There is one thing you don't call me, and that is a hillbilly.  It is not all about Ron.  Vodka was good last night, huh?

Nashville is still recovering from being out of gas pretty much starting last Friday and it seemed to get better by Tuesday.  It was steadily disappearing from after Ike because they said damage to the pipes, but it wasn't hitting the news until pretty much many stations were already out.  People were waiting in line for hours trying to get gas at those few places that still had it last Friday, which weren't many places by the end of the day and throughout the weekend.  The problem was -- no one really knew what was going on or that we were running out of gas, so people here went to survival lol mode and filled up because there was no indication when we would have gas again.  It was funny though, because people started following gas tankers when they were getting off the expressway right into the gas station.  It was really weird though seeing all the gas stations with no prices on their signs.  Its cool though because the gas going in is about 50 cents less than what it was before we ran out..  There are still some stations out and i just filled up yesterday at the station by me and they are still out of premium and really expensive one.

Thanks for the heads-up... I've been thinking it looked like a really nice weekend to go ride around in the mountains, but I guess I'll wait for a bit.

We're still doing fine down in Chucktown as well, guess ours is coming in by boat.

Atlanta is hit or miss at best! If there is gas there is a line! Here they blame it on the low sulfur gas required due to air pollution and the latest hurricane. Price isn't too bad when you find it but, there is a bit of gouging as well. I filled up for $3.99 yesterday without a crowd but, I travel the city enough that I stumble on stations that have it and am lucky enough not to travel when everyone else is.

k well my parents are taking a dif route this year...they're taking the I95...to myrtle beach from canada...think they'll encounter gas problems???

its 3 weeks away yes....but if they're short now other places will get short...and it cause a chain reaction...so who knows 3 weeks from now right?

I was thinking of pouring some down the drain we have such a surplus here. Coming out of our ears it is.

Colonial Pipeline, the major gas pipeline for the East Coast was damaged during Ike and running at about 80%. Just google it.

Various areas of Georgia are suffering severe shortages.
