Just came back from church.  Don't get me wrong.  I love my Pastor.  He kept saying that we were not a happy look crowd.  I guess that is because we were sharpening our knives in our pockets not against him of course, but the gougers.  I get to work three hours today with gas like it is, and he tells me not to give up.    It is not worth it anymore.

I was watching the News last night on the Charleston station and they said that if you suspect that a gas station is price gouging to call the Atty General Henry McMaster's office.

(fast reply)

Friday morning when I left for work is was 3.53. On the way home it was up to 3.89 with people filling up everywhere so I jumped in line (with my last 20.00 on me)--Thank the stars I drive a small Yaris---

This afternoon its up to 4.09 and thats IF you can even get gas. Many stations are out. My Mom had to hit 4 stations before finding one with gas and my daughter went to four and finally gave up and came home almost empty.

Oh..Im just Northeast of Atlanta.

Ugh- Typos

I was on my way with my doggie to meet a lady friend at East Cobb Park on 120 teh other day and had to get gas 'cause Sadie was running on fumes. I stopped at a Quik Trip and had to wait 10 minutes to get to a pump. I couldn't figure out what all these people were doing there. Sadie eats 93 R+M/2 so no worry about not getting gas. After a couple fine hours of laying on the blanket in the shade sipping iced tea and munching ice cold water melon and doing some heavy necking, I went home and turned on the news for news of Ike, and when they mentioned Baytown, I remembered that there were a bunch of refineries on that side of Galveston bay (having lived in the Bayou City for 10 years), but there was nobody to run them. They'd all been evac'd.

No refineries, no gas. Ruh-roh.

Now, it doesn't seem to matter how often it is explained, some people just can't seem to grasp the economics of the business, but I'll give it a try... a very simplified try.

Let's say I own a gas station. (you with me so far? I know it's close to rocket science for some of you, but try to keep up, K? )
I start the day with 10K gallons of gas, which I bought for 3 bucks a gallon. I need to order another 10K gallons today for delivery 2 days from now. Supplier tells me it's gonna be 3.50 in 2 days because there won't be anything coming out of Texas. Tons of crude, but no gas. How much crude there is waiting to be refined is completely irrelevant. NO GAS. It's being shipped from NJ or whereever. I have to IMMEDIATELY raise my price so I can pay for that delivery 2 days hence.
If I don't do that, I will only have USD30K to buy my gas, which would get me 8,571 gallons. If I keep doing that, well, I'm out of business soon.
So why is gas in New Jersey now more expensive? Remeber the gas that was sent to me in Atlanta? That caused a shortfall in NJ supplies, so the suppliers there had to raise their prices.

Now that wasn't so bad, was it?

I live in the Houston area - we don't have gas.  We'll, if you want to drive a 100 miles or wait in a line for 12 hours, we have gas - but beyong that - Hurricane Ike has caused a great barrier in filling our tanks.

I went to work today and gas was $1.44 CAD per litre which is about $5.11 US per gallon.

It's $4.29 here (Ohio) after jumping $.29 overnight. Usually where I live it's $.10 more than the city, but I actually went into the city yesterday and people were lining up out into the street for $4.49.... really confused me because literally 3 miles down the road, it was only $4.19 and was barely busy.
