Tonight will we be witnessing the birth of the "religious left"?
 
I'm looking forward to the festivities, and will be using my TIVO to make sure I don't miss anything. My vote is on the line and with this line up performing for aforementioned hymn, Dave Stewart, Forest Whitaker, Amy Keys, Macy Gray, Jason Alexander, Colbie Caillat, Whoopi Goldberg, Joss Stone, Buju Banton, Ann Marie Calhoun, Barry Manilow (????), Linda Perry, Cyndi Lauper, Sergio Mendes, Herbie Hancock, Mike Bradford, Margaret Cho, Joan Baez, Daedelus, Pamela Anderson Peter & Gordon, Sierra Swan, Nadirah X, Perez Hilton; they could sway me. Such a group not seen since the taping of "We are the World!" - I'm excited! With these people here and Madona kicking off the global campaign with a Nazi/McCain video - I'm ready to associate with that campain! As Mel Brooks points out - "There is nothing more entertaining than bringing Nazis into the production."
 
Now I hear 'BRUCE!', my NJ homeboy, will be performing for the stadium crowd. Rumor has it that Senator Obama will be lowered from a helicopter in a 'Jesus Christ Superstar' motif, complete with the robed choir backup.
 
Bruce always does a great stadium show. Maybe they can get President Clinton to do the Clarence Clemmons' sax solo, and Senator Clinton can dye her hair red and do a Patty Scialfa tambourine thing. Turning off her mic of course. 
 
I hope they do 'Thunder Road'.
 
I wonder if they'll have a remote screen set up for the protesters locked up, I mean segregated, at an old abandoned fenced in drive-in.

Sort of a strange mix, eh?  The release of it is really interesting and is playing into ads like this.

As far as the "Boss" I am more hoping that they do "Born to run" as it seems more fitting, ah but what do I know.  There is plenty of streaming coverage out there, some of the bigger places are doing 24/7 streaming cameras, so might be worth looking into.

Now that was beautiful, and almost accurate, not a bad prediction for being done in March.  I had never seen anything by him before, thanks for sharing.

So McCain thinks an amateurish attack against a candidate because he is popular is a good idea? BTW how did he legally pay for this thing, it says he did at the end, when he is legally forbidden from spending one penny on campaigning until he officially becomes his party's nominee? Where is the outrage over his blatant violation of campaign laws? What happened to the right wingers who frothed at the mouth over some questionable campaign donations in the past?

Cnn had an interview with Michelle Obama a while ago.
She said that; "we could actually make a better *world*."
Not a better *COUNTRY*, she used the word "world."
And I wonder just who she thinks would actually *PAY* for,..."a better world?"
Oh! Silly me, that'll be comming out of the $1.4 TRILLION tax increase should Obama be elected!
Why would anyone in their right mind vote for someone if they *know* that they'll be having a massive tax increase if that person gets elected?

Speaking of I haven't noticed young Patches Kennedy yet, he's probably in the "hospitality room" becomming "best friends" with the bartender.

What's so strange about the idea that people on the "left" are religious as well? Since when did the GOP buy out the concept of God?

Frankly, I would think a religious left would be closer to the teachings of Jesus, than any republican has been. After all, he said that we would be judged by how we treat the least among us.... not which of us had the better investment portfolio while (in the case of Newt and Reagan) shutting down hospitals for the mentally ill, and orphanages, just to make the ledger look a little better for the base.

No, believe it or not Rethuglicans, we liberals actually feel like it's our place in life to help those less well off, just like the son of God sermonized about. The rights are all about changing money in the temple. It's high time they got their ass kicked politically.

Just to be clear, were he running against either of these two guys, he'd still be preferable; as would just about anyone else for that matter.

Apparently the distinction is lost on you. The 'right', or the GOP since you hold the terms synonymous, may be religious; the left IS a religion. One without tolerance of other's beliefs. One who believes it is a 'sin' to succeed, unless the successful are willing to work 40% of the time for people sitting on their ass all day.

However, its good to see your acknowledgment and acceptance in the concept of the left being a religion. Where the Son of God more real than the Easter Bunny; he'd be amused at your selective, and assumption based opinion that the left has it right. Didn't he say "there will be poor always"? Well actually that was a 'JC Superstar' reference, twice in one thread! The actual quote is; "the poor you will always have with you". Wouldn't the elimination of them prove him wrong?

Ummm, perhaps the next time confronted by a panhandler, I'll tell him that giving him anything would not be 'Christ-like'.

Okay - too radical I admit. However, maybe Christ's opinion of the tax collectors should be a consideration when the source of funding Senator Obama's social economic redistribution programs is raised. A religious person such as yourself should know their Christ assigned fate better than me.

Obviously, you are confused about something, there is money that is raised for the primaries and money raised for after becoming the nominee.  Where has Obama been getting his money to legally advertise all of this time, as well?  Does this mean we the people get to throw out the 2 current presumptive nominees, and pick the ones we like?  That is something I could get behind.

However it is good to know that the light has shown on you, and you had that epiphany to vote for Obamessiah.

I'm not confused about anything. legally the primary campaign ends after the candidate is nominated at his party's convention. Until that time the primary fund raising and spending rules apply. McCain took federal matching funds for his primary campaign, Obama did not take matching funds and is therefore able to spend all the money he can legally raise. That obligates McCain to spend no more than $54 million during the primary campaign. He exceeded that limit sometime in late March or early April. Every penny he has spent since then has been in violation of federal election law.
