BlackPhx -> RE: Missing Tot's Mom to Walk out of Jail! (8/22/2008 12:46:34 PM)

Unfortunately it does tend to be a bad thing when the focus is not on finding the child or the missing person but in shoving a microphone in a persons face and demanding they tell you all they have told the police or yelling out "Did you kill your child?" or "Did your daughter kill her Child? " Without a doubt no one is going to look into a TV camera and say yes after not saying anything to the Police, or even if they have, but it does keep the focus there instead of on finding the child. According to the way the Media is reacting they have decided the child is dead and the mother is guilty. They are not posting have you seen this child pictures... While the Media can be very effective when they want to be, they can also be extremely invasive, jugmental based on what is going to get them ratings and sell papers. They are very good at shaping public opinion for the very reason that the majority of us can't get the access to their sources that they can. Police know this and use this as we saw in the case of the girls who bet another teen and posted it to YouTube. By the time the Police Captain who spoke out against this on TV and Print was finished, the only way these girls could be tried as juveniles was blocked and the media was in a frenzy condeming them and anyone who tried to help them. The same is happening here. They have been camped out on the Grandparents sidewalk with a possible break for Fay since the search of the yard. They are under seige and can't even order a pizza without the delivery guy being questioned. Private conversations with their daughter have been aired on TV..Excerpted..not in their entirety but in ways that place a darker light on everything. Pick and choose what you air and you can slant things anyway you want and you are not going to waste a 20 second ound bite on Hello How are you I miss you. Now stop and think, how calm would you remain if a family member was missing, your child was under suspicion AND you were trapped in your house, followed and harrassed constantly. consistently the Grandparents have tried to get the Media to focus on finding Caylee preferrably alive and the Media has focused on building the case for the Police and Prosecutors, while making sure any potential jury would have made up their mind in advance. Oh, those cameras need light, and since almost all reporters have been filmed with the house in the background, guess where the lights shine. Most of us have a personal space boundary that only those we are comfortable with or know well are invited within. Reporters constantly invade that space thrusting microphones within inches of your face. I am actually surprised that more of them aren't punched or assaulted. We don't know yet what has happened to the child. She may have been left in the car and died accidently, she may have had an accident, gotten into drugs in the house (however despite "reports' that the mother was a drug addict, she does not seem to have had any withdrawal problems while incarcerated or even looked like she did when in court), been grabbed by someone for what ever reason, been "sold" to an adoptive couple or any myriad number of other things, half of which do not mean that the child is dead. Children have been grabbed and kept for years by non custodial parents, been placed on underground "rescue" services that spirit abused women and children away (yes they do exist they are not a fiction of TV), been "sold" to adoptive parents through private adoption, been grabbed by strangers and kept for years several recently in the news and past (I know my name is Steven is one account in book form). Why didn't Mom speak up? Anyone remember the Duckett Case? Trenton John Duckett age 2 at time of kidnapping. The Mother reported it and was soon the prime suspect, not only by the police but by the media with Nancy Grace not only condemning the mother and leading the vigilante Media pack, but twisting and deriding everything she said. Melinda commited suicide not long after. The child has never been found, despite extensive searches, alive or dead and it is possible that indeed the child was snatched just like Elizabeth Smart was. Me? I am hoping above all that Caylee is found alive and well. I know the pain of losing a child, not just having them go missing which my son did, but having them found dead as he was. There is no way to describe the hole that leaves in your soul and heart. I can't imagine what I would have felt like if I had taken his life, even accidentally. I am also hoping that the truth comes out sooner than it did for the Ramseys..no one should have to live under that tyope of scrutiny and suspicion and condenation for 12 years or more. Imagine never being able to go anywhere, give your name anywhere without people looking at you like you are feces on the bottom of a shoe if you are innocent. poenkitten
