Exactly. It depends on what you're trying to accomplish and who you're playing with. If I want to do something pretty (maybe we're taking pictures) or I'm playing with a real rope slut, I'm much more likely to use my hemp. Or if I'm doing suspension, that's almost certainly being done with hemp rope. But if I just want quick and effective its the locking leather cuffs and the chain. When subs sleep over, I have them sleep in locking leather cuffs connected by padlocked chain to a very sturdy eye bolt. Its very effective and I love making them sleep in bondage I know they can not get out of, but that just wouldn't work with rope. Plus, I absolutely love the sound of the metal and chain rattling. I had custom leather cuffs made with dangling O-rings specifically for that purpose. They work fantastic on the ankles, in a public space I can hear if my submissive is moving, where she is and where she's headed pretty much at all times.
I like both too. Like most things in the lifestyle I prefer not to choose when I can instead have both/all.
