"According to an analysis of campaign contributions by the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics, Democrat Barack Obama has received nearly six times as much money from troops deployed overseas at the time of their contributions than has Republican John McCain, and the fiercely anti-war Ron Paul, though he suspended his campaign for the Republican nomination months ago, has received more than four times McCain's haul."

Interesting article.
The numbers are still small, and don't include the July figures... where I am sure there will be a closing of that gap.  I would even suggest that over the next couple of months, McCain will probably be receiving more money from military service members.  It also doesn't give a definition of deployed abroad.

It will be something interesting to keep an eye on.

Frankly, this study has as much meaning in terms of predicting this election than 
the current polls ie zero!  These "studies" and polls provide a good livig to the employees of
these companies, and fill up the space between commercials for the networks but not much else.
Look back on the polls of just six months ago regarding "what americans are most concerned about";
"Hillary vs who?"  "Iraq", "Illegal Immigration", etc etc.... and now it's a "fading" $4.00 gas.  This will
change too!
This election is going to be decided in the voting booth in November when the curtain closes and
people think in private about who they would want in the most powerful office in the world, a man (or woman,
don't count Hillary out yet) in whom they would entrust the future of their families.  There won't be
rock groups  bringing in the throngs, or lapel pin wearing guides to show the way...only our individual
intellect.

Go to the FEC website and read the rules on what is and is not a foreign donation.

What has patriotism to do with whom US service men and women support politically? They have the same right to make the same mistake as anyone else believing in Obama.

Remember those "deployed overseas" includes folks in Germany, Guam, Korea, etc...  Not just those in the conflict theatres.[;)]

It is still way to early to make any claims about support or anything like that from the military, as was pointed out in the article originally posted.

Kittin, that's funny.
Sounds like Clinton's, "building a bridge to the 21st century."
How's that "bridge" comming?
Did he actually build it?
Was it built in Minneapolis?
"The audacity of hope" is fine..... if you're "hoping" for the same things that Obama is.
But, if you're hoping for things like a govt. that enforces our immigration laws and borders or any of our laws you'll probably be "S.O.L."
If you're "hoping" that your govt. has a humble foreign policy,.....yup, S.O.L. with Obama again, he'll get us involved in the problems of even more foreign countries!
If you're "hoping" that our govt. will get out of the "foreign aid business" you'll really be S.O.L., Obama wants to "double foreign aid!"
If you're "hoping" that our govt. will balance the budget and stop spending so much of *our money*...S.O.L. again, Obama has a $1.4 Trillion Tax Increase in his back pocket should he be elected!
If you're "hoping" for a return to representative and responsive govt. S.O.L. again,...if Obama gets in we'll have a Global Socialist govt. that's "responsive" to places like "Darfur" and Obama will be calling us,....."World Citizens."
Not "American Citizens", ...."World Citizens."

I don't like Republicans but I like Democrats even less!
