So, after a rather long night of working, I pop on to collarme to check my mail.  The only thing waiting for me was, as usual, a lone email in my bulk mail folder.  Sometimes I read them, just for laughs.  This time, I was plesantly surprised.  Sure, it was just a one liner, and it was from someone who was clearly not what I state that I am looking for.  However, this person took a moment out of their day to send me a very nice, albeit short, email.  Got me to thinking...so many people complain about one line emails on here.  Have you ever gotten a nice one,  one that made you smile?  What was it?

I've actually gotten a few really nice short e-mails. Can be as simple as a comment on my journal, or on one of my responses here in the forums.

Nicest one i got lately just said " I think you are adorable your Master is lucky, have a nice day"  Things like that make a person smile. especailly if you're already having a crappy day *S*

I get quite a few sweet one-liners.  Usually a comment about my journal or something I've said here on the forums, and they really do make me feel good.  And I comment back, thanking them.

Compliments are always welcome. :) Honest questions, such as where are you moving? I have no filters and read every cmail. I wouldn't want to miss a chance to make a good friend.

I also love compliments. The one that made me laugh the most though was about one of my pictures. He said "Don't be fooled, that one guy is a statue!"

I always write back and say thank you if I am given a compliment or if someone's comment makes me laugh. You never know, just because I am not searching anymore doesn't mean I won't meet a new friend! And friends are always welcome.

It's nice to see that someone else is open to consider the 'flip side of one liners'.  I personally find them irritating because i think the least the other person can do is show some interest besides "hey, how you doin' (think the show friends).  Those are the kinds that i just delete.  However when someone writes a oneliner regarding something i've posted or a question or even a compliment, I respond.  Basically if the one liner has no substance, i dont waste my time...if its nice, then i feel the least i can do is share my time as they have and respond.

i've gotten a couple of really nice ones..."welcome to the new area!"  and "i hope you're settling down well after the move!"

of course still a couple of silly ones "nice legs!" that denegrated to "like to see them parted!"  *massive eyeroll*

I've had some really nice one-liners....compliments, greetings....and i make it a habit to respond.  I'm always flattered someone took even a moment to send...........BUT.....occasionally i'll get a rude A'hole, those i don't bother with.....they aren't worth the energy and i certainly wont feed into their game.

What i don't understand, is the one word emails....what's up with those??!!?

Just this morning, as a matter of fact, a compliment on my comments in here and my sig line.  And I did write back and thank him, and it was a great way to start the morning.  Almost better than coffee. [;)]

If I really like something said in a profile or in a signature I sometimes will write a one-liner. Honestly, I would write more except that with all the griping I hear about email received I often don't choose to bother. I also don't write collared submissives out of a general respect for the relationship she is in. It is good to hear that they can be appreciated. I know I appreciate receiving the ones that are thoughtful.

I would like to comment to those submissives that have virtually no information in their profile yet state they are interested in finding someone, that sometimes it is easier to pass you up then try to delve into an email to you when you haven't taken time to clarify your desires. Maybe this is a filtering tactic for some of you, but I can assure that both good and bad people will pass you up if you don't provide something useful to assess your potential for compatibility. I would venture to say that the real people will pass you more than write you and the jerks are only interested in the fact that you are "submissive" and have a profile. They will write no matter what you put. Usually with a form letter. Not sure if this tidbit will be appreciated by anyone but I have wanted to say this for a while. I feel better... lol

I often will send a one-liner to compliment someone on profile and/or pics, or forum posts.

The obvious wanker ones I get are either ignored and deleted, or (if I'm in a MOOD) get lambasted seven ways to sunday...

Sometimes, I get a one-liner from someone just saying they liked my profile or one of my journal entries.  Sometimes they are from people other than what I am looking for (e.g. male Doms, femsubs, Femdoms).   I always thank them for taking them time out of their day to say something nice.

My favorite was from a guy from overseas.  The mail simply read "mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm"

So I sent back one that said "nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn"

He immediately picked up on the game and replied, "ooooooooooooooooooooooooooo"

Sometimes good shit happens.  I think we exchanged a few pleasantries after that before I got distracted by something else that was shiny. :)

Good writers don't have to write novels to get their points across. Sometimes, a few well chosen words can mean much more then a long, rambling post.
Yet, so many here seem to go for quantity over quality. Why is that?

Finally, has it occurred to some of you that as a writer and person, my time is valuable too-and I'm not going to waste it writing anyone a novel only to see it be deleted unread or wind up unread in someone's bulk mail folder.

Sometimes one-liners are full of poetic thoughtful, well written content.

Other times those big long winded form letters are completely unreadable.

I had forgotten.....I got one recently where the sender, a male from down under, asked if I wanted to role play a story about a war prisoner, beaten, raped, tortured brutally and used for breeding, and the sadistic camp commander.  I wrote back and said "ok, you be the prisoner and I'll be the camp commander". 

He was gracious enough to send back a "LOL"  [:D]

if they seem genuine I always reply back, even if it is to say, "no thank you and good luck in your search" or something like that.  nothing wrong with being kind and courteous.

on the other hand, assholes get immediate blocks.[:D]
