Uhmmm, have you considered saving money by not buying those things in the first place, and using said saved money to buy a proper tool like a paddle (not ping pong) or rattan cane (not yardstick)? I play quite heavily with my boy, and seldom break a tool (note I don't call them "toys"). We have canes that are over ten years old, still as nice as the day they were bought. Cheap crap is just that....

I can't take too much of a beating but I know a guy who can take a severe beating and I don't think anything has been broken on him (except his ribs and teeth, not the canes and paddles). ;)

I agree that good quality stuff that was made for that purpose will last. Rulers were never designed to be canes. Of course there is something domestically hot about being beating with household objects...

I am pretty impressed too, but that really goes without saying, since I wasn't I wouldn't have started the thread. And she wants to be able to take more. Damn good thing, that. "Innocent" flirting is among my favorite social lubricants. I do try to observe some semblance of social protocols, but here in the forums it is a bit more difficult to know what is or is not going to offend someone. So much is lost be not being able to actually see and hear one another. Some ppl strongly perfer 'domestic' domination. Thus using anything made and sold for specific BDSM use misses the point for that group. For example, while I haven't broken it on him, I have been known to use a wiffle bat on sfdrew...floggers are nice and effective, but sometimes nothing says "I'm gonna DESTROY you...!" like a rolling pin....

I agree with Lady Lupine. Some people, myself included have some high quality gear, but still enjoy use of household items for domestic discipline scenarios. I love using things that can be found around the house.

On the other hand I have beaten a sub with a riding crop to the point that the tip tore, and it began to unravel.
