Before you use any tape check allergies. I'm allergic to all adhesives so it doesn't matter what kind of tape one is using, if it has adhesive on it I'm going to have hives all over my face and have trouble breathing. To deliberately cause that kind of harm to me, it could be life-threatening if I can't breathe, is one of my hard limits.

G'afternoon all: (Fast Reply) Despite all the replies, I haven't seen one person mention Vet Wrap. Makes Bondage Tape pale in comparison. Not only is it much cheaper, it has no adhesive, is self clinging, comes in at least 8 spiffy colors for your aesthetic applications, and heck, it may even be washable. (Haven't tried, but hey, who knows?) Now, while I am a happy little sadist at heart? I wouldn't use duct tape on a person's face for anything. It's just too problematic, for many of the reasons previously stated. I like my play time to be easier, not more work. I always keep some black rolls in the toy bag, ready to go for anything. If you wrap it carefully, not too tightly? You can even wrap it over someone's nose and they will be able to breathe freely while it provides a more secure spot to loop around the head. I personally prefer it for speed bondage. For informational purposes, see link I Googled below. I don't endorse this company, merely using their link to illustrate the product. It's much cheaper on Ebay and there are other brand versions of the same product for even less than that. If you can't find the less expensive ones, jingle me on the other side and I'll check for you. Allergies can be life-threatening (as in my case also) and all parties involved need to know what one another may have a problem with BEFORE playing.

I would certainly expect, as an adult playing with other adults, that you would mention any relevant allergies/phobias/other life- or safety-threatening issues BEFORE you start to play. If I know someone has a serious grass allergy, I don't use hemp rope; if they have an latex allergy, we'll break out the nitrile gloves; if they have an adhesives allergy, then ball gags it is. It also contains latex, which many are allergic to. Vetwrap doesn't hold the same connotations for me. I spent way too many years using it wrap up show horse tails when they weren't showing. I love duct tape. A little lotion on the skin before duct tape prevents all of the aformentioned issues with the exception of an adhesive allergy.

I am so glad I found this thread! My sub has facial hair, which makes tape either painful or not sticky enough for the lips. I like the link for the tape that only sticks to itself. Ooo, and look-it comes in hot pink! That's Netizen's color!

I'm sure most responsible people would check the list of fabric contents before applying any type of wrap. I didn't suggest that it would be right for any or all. Simply mentioned that no one had brought it up and extolled what I felt were it's virtues over another product discussed. As to using lotion prior to the application of any cohesive bandage... Would you really want to apply that to your lips?!? Yuck. I could see some natural aloe vera gel perhaps but lotion, as in skin lotion? No thanks. Hi Everyone, This is a great thread! My own personal preference is black electrical tape for bondage gags. I find duct tape too sticky (as a lot of you already mentioned). Although the electrical tape is thinner (at 1") I wrap it around a few times until it covers the mouth area completely. The tape is almost always used to hold a cloth gag in the mouth. I'm sure this setup wouldn't work for everybody, but it's my own personal favorite. Besides, I thought I'd add my experiences in as a contribution to the already varied preferences here!
