Just wondering if there was any particular type of tape that is better for this kind of thing? I know duct tape is very popular, but it tends to leave a nasty gluey residue on the skin which can take ages to scrub off. Is insulation tape any better?

MamaDomme1 -> RE: Tape gags (8/3/2008 4:31:33 PM)

I really enjoy the duct tape that is specifically made for HVAC use.  Sticks something fierce and is wicked when jerked off!

Evility -> RE: Tape gags (8/3/2008 5:34:11 PM)

My toybag is never without this:

Conforms nicely to all the contours and holds well without taking skin or hair off when you remove it.

If you want to avoid sticky stuff completely, look up bondage tape. It's basically a thin plastic and sticks to itself but nothing else. You could wrap it around the head without it sticking to hair. Other than that, we've just used duct tape.

azropedntied -> RE: Tape gags (8/3/2008 5:47:15 PM)

I am with the others on the bondage tape with no sticky stuff as a base , you can  also use cut down  cling film too , then add duct tape . A hunk of tape  does not last as a  good gag unless wrapped around the head and mouth .But if you dig the hair being yanked out  you really dont need the  first non stick layer .

TreasureKY -> RE: Tape gags (8/3/2008 10:14:00 PM)

We've never had any problems with duct tape.  Just "handle" the pieces by applying  to the palm of your hand first, thus reducing its "stickiness" just enough.

MaamJay -> RE: Tape gags (8/3/2008 10:22:17 PM)

I like bondage tape too! Only sticks to itself and doesn't taste too awful either! And comes in lovely colours like ... purple [;)]

Edited to add ... some people like me are allergic to certain glues ... i can't use a lot of medical tapes or sticking plasters ... so bondage tape is a real bonus!

HeavansKeeper -> RE: Tape gags (8/3/2008 10:30:47 PM)

I see a lot of duct tape response here and can't help but remind you:

Duct tape does poorly against moisture, and a tongue can push it away.
Duct tape can bond overly hard to dry or chapped lips, making them bleed.

On the plus side, duct tape is cheap, available, pretty, painful (sometimes a plus) and non-toxic. (At least in small amounts, if worn but not eaten).

Bondage tape, as said above, is nice, but if you can't find it, get electrical tape. Same stuff, basically. Also, since the bands are thinner and it doesn't stick well to hair, electrical tape can go around the head, working like a bandana gag.

Duct tape is "amatuer time"

Use the medical tape-it's worth the extra money.

I assume you meant the word "amateur".

Main Entry:am£a£teur
Pronunciation:*a-m*-(*)t*r, -*t*r, -*ty*r, -*ch*r, -ch*r
Function:noun
Usage:often attributive
Etymology:French, from Latin amator lover, from amare to love
Date:1784

1 : DEVOTEE, ADMIRER
2 : one who engages in a pursuit, study, science, or sport as a pastime rather than as a profession

So ...yeah .. duct tape users likely fit either of the first two meanings of the word.

Nope,I meant it as "dilletannte-unprofessional-ignorant." [:D]

Wow, pretty sure of yourself, aren't you?  Of course, your tastes must be the only ones that count. No one could POSSIBLY enjoy hearing a sub squeal as the duct tape is peeled off ...

Bluebird -> RE: Tape gags (8/4/2008 12:02:52 AM)

To the OP - if you like the look but not the stickiness, colorful cloth tape by Duck brand (available at your local Wal-mart among other places) can be a good alternative (although not really sticky enough to stay on if someone actually tries to talk).  "Bondage Tape" is just like thick saran wrap, doesn't stay on at all.  "World's Best Gag Tape" is like extra wide electical tape & is nicer to the skin than duct tape; it stays on fairly well especially if you put some nice stuffing underneath it.  Medical tapes stay on fairly well, but I think Microfoam looks like American cheese and I get hungry everytime I use it [:D]

Whatever tape you use, have some Goo Gone handy to clean up errant stickiness, and have him/her then wash the Goo Gone off with a mild soap. I haven't found a reaction to Goo Gone even with sensitive skin, but better safe than ITCHY!

freezer tape will absolutely rip the skin right off your lips.  i played with that stuff as a kiddo and found that out the hard way...

Sunnyfey -> RE: Tape gags (8/4/2008 5:11:48 AM)

What about that clear packing tape? it sticks enough to stay on mostly, but its not stick enough to leave the ewy gunk.....AND it has the added benefit of being clear, so you can see if that snotty sub is trying to peel it off by wetting it down with her tounge

OsideGirl -> RE: Tape gags (8/4/2008 7:19:35 AM)

Actually, if you apply lotion before the duct tape, it makes it less sticky and the residue won't stay either.

Ahh... so I gather you feel that everyone here who uses and enjoys duct tape is ignorant?

Nice to know.  [;)]

By the way, it's dilettante.

That or duct tape turns their crank. There is something more exciting about it than medical tape to me. Could be because I find nothing threatening about medical tape, having used it all my life.

Lynnxz -> RE: Tape gags (8/4/2008 10:49:59 AM)

If you want to see me get angry, please proceed to wrap ducttape around my mouth, and hair like a jackass while I am blindfolded. It breaks hair, and makes my lips bleed when ripped off.

If YOU want to run around with frizzy hair, and that o so attractive red square around your mouth, go right ahead. I'll go along with medical tape, or bondage 'tape' any day. On a side note, ace bandages are nice as well.

AquaticSub -> RE: Tape gags (8/4/2008 10:51:50 AM)

*chuckles* We never wrap it all the way around the head when using anything sticky. That is reserved solely for bondage tape, cloth or leather. I don't like my hair being ripped out either.
