When the cops are called.........is usually a good indicator for me......

I'd say that depends on who calls them and why.

Has there ever been a consensus reached regarding what constitutes the lifestyle?

No, and if there ever is, count me out.

People are diverse on here. The kinks are endless. My questions are when is the line crossed and you go beyond what is considered the lifestyle? Given to each their own is there a line?

Cakewalk.  For us, at least, the clear and number one priority BY FAR is our marriage.  Everything else pales into insignificance in comparison including the Master/slave dynamic.  I've gone too far, therefore, when I have in some way caused significant damage to her, me, or us.  Put another way, it's too far when the marriage suffers from it rather than benefits.

When I hear John Edwards voice talking to me from the other side, and it's not the other side of the room.

Seriously, if I started doing things that I could not morally live with.  That would be one way of knowing.   If I was doing things to somebody else and they could not deal with it.   The conscience state of things between two people.

You mean the John Edwards of "Sinners at the hands of an angry god" fame?

The "Crossing Over" one... the dude that talks to dead people from the other side.

concavia -> RE: Lifestyle. How far. (7/27/2008 4:45:50 PM)

I interpret this to mean doing things that are about power but no longer about particular "lifestyle" concerns.

i.e. dosing subbie with illegal drugs? forcing subbie to become an assasin? Like the kinds of things you see Dominants do on cop shows?

Correct me if I am wrong.

angelslave77 -> RE: Lifestyle. How far. (7/27/2008 7:23:41 PM)

It think a line is crossed in any relationship when things become non consensual because like others have said things like harm are subjective, a Dom having a sub break tha law might be wrong to most of us but if the sub agrees (not out of fear or threats ) but because they choose to then that is consensual within the confines of that particular relationship.
