About 30 minutes ago i was asked by a CM-er to be their 'friend'.

it was the first contact they'd made to me - i declined

i've a policy of declining such requests, not sure why - i'm just kinda private i s'pose

what's your viewpoint?

SinLee -> RE: I've been asked to be a'friend on collar me' and (7/22/2008 4:40:34 AM)

sometimes i'll accept and not add, sometimes i'll just decline ... depends on my mood...

i figure if they wanna stick me on their page and be little "subbie pic collectors" as alot of them that add at first contact seem to be... so be it, doesn't hurt me any...
sometimes i just don't feel like it though :p

BrokenSaint -> RE: I've been asked to be a'friend on collar me' and (7/22/2008 4:42:13 AM)

If it's someone I've spoken to at some length then I accept, otherwise I decline. Friends are just that. Friends.

purepleasure -> RE: I've been asked to be a'friend on collar me' and (7/22/2008 5:05:13 AM)

unless I know them from the forums, I decline.

I don't want to be known as the Tila Tequila of cm

tsatske -> RE: I've been asked to be a'friend on collar me' and (7/22/2008 5:19:15 AM)

I always accept but don't add. I have no problem with being one of hundreds of cute subbies on their page, as SinLee said.
I have once or twice became friends with someone after they did that, (pretty rare, i admit), and had to ask them write me and say, when i send them a friends request, that we are already on one anothers friends list, and had to explain that i didn't really know them well enough when they asked me, so i just 'accept but don't add'ed them.
Here, on CM, i might have one or two friends on my list which whom i corrospond very regularly, but, in general, my friends list is made up of people I know F2F.

VirginPotty -> RE: I've been asked to be a'friend on collar me' and (7/22/2008 5:31:11 AM)

I always decline on the 1st contact. I have no desire/or NEED to be on someone's "Friend" list unless we've corresponded for at least a week on the Boards/longer on the other side. Just my [sm=2cents.gif]

stella41b -> RE: I've been asked to be a'friend on collar me' and (7/22/2008 5:35:53 AM)

I refuse to either explain or justify my friendship as it is generally available to all freely. However I do differentiate between friendship and a friend, and I would assume that the difference is appreciation of my friendship.

camille65 -> RE: I've been asked to be a'friend on collar me' and (7/22/2008 5:36:25 AM)

There was no option for 'Ignore' which is what I do.
I don't get the whole 'Friends' thing to be quite honest. If I have a friend then I mail them, not sure why I need to have them earmarked.

LadyRainfire -> RE: I've been asked to be a'friend on collar me' and (7/22/2008 5:43:12 AM)

With a very rare exception, all of my friends on my friends list are regular posters on the forums that I interact closely with and know on a first name basis. If I don't know you personally or if Lumus doesn't know you, pretty much you are SOL on getting onto my list..... Maybe I'm weird (shuddup Pots and holl-parts!) but my friends list is just that - my friends list. Not a trophy list, not a brag list, but a small intimate circle of friends. [;)]  The people on my list have special meaning for me.

SweetNika -> RE: I've been asked to be a'friend on collar me' and (7/22/2008 5:43:39 AM)

Unless it is someone I have spoken to and enjoy the company of at least in a virtual sense I decline.

[:(]   So does this mean that the friends request I was going to send out will be iggied, Camille? [sm=river.gif]

No one. Nor the fact that you can't can't keep your big mouth  shut even when the original quote says "shuddup Pots and holl-parts!"

sambamanslilgirl -> RE: I've been asked to be a'friend on collar me' and (7/22/2008 6:41:38 AM)

if i know the person from prior messages and/or the forums, then i will accept the request.

however if it's someone who was just browsing the picture gallery and/or doesn't send a prior message introducing themselves, then i will decline the request.

it's clearly stated in my profile about chat/friends requests but no one reads profiles these days.

wandersalone -> RE: I've been asked to be a'friend on collar me' and (7/22/2008 7:02:02 AM)

I don't get the whole friends list thing.  I usually get requests from total strangers to be friends with them and I pretty much decline them all.  And yes I will confess to having no idea how and no desire to get a myspace or facebook account! [:D]

sblady -> RE: I've been asked to be a'friend on collar me' and (7/22/2008 7:36:51 AM)

If I've never had contact with this person, I decline.

Also, not to sound weird or odd, but sometimes when I view their current friends list, I sorta get that "birds of a feather flock together" or high school clique thing and may or may not want to associated myself with a particular "group".

Geez....am I taking this thing far to seriously?  Better take my meds!! [image]http://www.collarchat.com/micons/m9.gif[/image]

faerytattoodgirl -> RE: I've been asked to be a'friend on collar me' and (7/22/2008 8:31:59 AM)

i dont collect friends..i have like 3 on there...2 are there because they are goth's which is rare in this way of life.

Rule -> RE: I've been asked to be a'friend on collar me' and (7/22/2008 8:39:06 AM)

By one's friends or the company one keeps one will be known. (It is a quote, I believe.)

Some people have persons on their friends list whoms posts I have hidden from my view.

I am not into this listing of friends thing.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: I've been asked to be a'friend on collar me' and (7/22/2008 8:39:21 AM)

If I know the person, I accept.  It's an easy way of clicking to perv or mail them, especially if they have a wacky sig.  The strangers that want to add me, DELETED immediately.  Let em add me to "admire" if they want to scope out my cleavage conveniently.
