Science has proven to be of immense benefit to the world....hell, we all wouldnt be on here if it werent for science. But at the same time....comments such as this seem to me to display the inherent arrogance that comes with science and the stereotypical western viewpoint. You have phenomena which have been transcribed orally as well as in documents by VARIOUS cultures; not just one or two; and suddenly scientific skepticism makes ALL of these null and void? Like I mentioned before....science has seemed to become so many people's religion.
Aggressiveblkdom, I'd love to see a ghost. I mentioned that earlier, and I really meant it. I'd like to see a bigfoot or the Loch Ness Monster. I am as open-minded as I can be without becoming a flake.
If I see something that I can't explain, it goes in my "I don't know" category. I don't try and fill in those gaps of knowledge with fanciful stories. It's true that cultures all over the world have these stories. But all that proves to me is that human beings are universally imaginative. We don't have explanations for a lot of things, so we try and fill those gaps of knowledge with our imaginations. I don't think that's a bad thing; it's one of many traits that make humans unique among all the creatures that live on this planet. It's what gives us drama, music, art, and even science. We wouldn't have science if we didn't have this universal trait to seek out knowledge.
What I am skeptical of is this automatic assumption that many people make when they experience something strange. If they can't explain it, they want to ascribe other-worldly explanations to it. Like everyone else, I have watched these videos and heard these recordings. I have yet to hear or see anything that convinces me that it's caused by something paranormal or from outside the natural world. When someone sees a ghost, I see a small cloud of dust. I see a light effect from a passing car. I hear static with radio interference that sound like a human voice. I don't see anything that can't be explained with science and reasoning.

OK, put that way I can understand a bit better. The initial comment somewhat ruffled my feathers because it seemed to be dismissive simply because there wasnt any HARD scientific evidence. Or maybe I just misread it. These things happen sometimes.

Ghosts, vampires, werewolves, zombies, dragons, unicorns, fairies, gnomes, demons, sprites, reptilian aliens living in caves, etc, etc do not exist anywhere except in people's imaginations.

One was filmed by Patterson and Gimlin. Genuine, I am convinced. Also there is much folkloristic testimony as to the existence of bigfoot.

Sorry, I do not think that you will ever see it. I have never seen any convincing evidence or testimony that it does exist. Sea monsters, perhaps.
