When I was riding pro rodeo, PETA decided to stage a protest outside the arena. A few of us riders took some of the leading protesters around to show them the Airconditioned trailers the bulls and broncs were transported in. We also invited them in to actually see how the animals were treated. With the exception of us trying to ride them for 8 seconds, they were treated quite well. We also pointed out that more riders had been maimed, crippled or killed than any of the rough stock. The final attempt to make a very valid point was informing them that if it wasnt for rodeo events, 90% of the rough stock would have been put down as being too dangerous. One of the protest leaders asked me, "If the stock is too dangerous, why do you ride then?" I gave an honest answer, "So I can catch a buckle bunny for the night." Thank god for pretty buckle bunnies.... those wonderfully soft, curved sweet buckle bunnies, sweet as honey and hotter than a firecracker, and wet as ..... you get the picture.
