This is a really wierd campaign.  Here is the ad in question: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ZuT5mCvki0
This made me laugh far more than I think they intended...

Well, I always thought teenagers were animals, having raised two of them, but I think this is a bit off the mark.

But then, PETA has been way off the mark on a lot of things.

An improvement actually, they used to compare KFC to the Holocaust - such humanitarians!

Yeah this was pretty mild compared to a lot of their PSA's.  I actually agree with them on the spaying and neutering thing.  I don't see the harm in this commercial.  It is actually kind of funny.

When I was riding pro rodeo, PETA decided to stage a protest outside the arena.

A few of us riders took some of the leading protesters around to show them the Airconditioned trailers the bulls and broncs were transported in.

We also invited them in to actually see how the animals were treated.  With the exception of us trying to ride them for 8 seconds, they were treated quite well.  We also pointed out that more riders had been maimed, crippled or killed than any of the rough stock.

The final attempt to make a very valid point was informing them that if it wasnt for rodeo events, 90% of the rough stock would have been put down as being too dangerous.

One of the protest leaders asked me, "If the stock is too dangerous, why do you ride then?"

I gave an honest answer, "So I can catch a buckle bunny for the night."

Thank god for pretty buckle bunnies.... those wonderfully soft, curved sweet buckle bunnies, sweet as honey and hotter than a firecracker, and wet as .....

you get the picture.

greetings to all,

This was hilarious.  Thanks so much for the morning laugh (though, the point is very very serious; it should be compulsory to spay and neuter pets...it saves so much suffering for such innocent lives).  The policy makers need to get off their tushies and do something about it.

well wishes,

Remember when a circus came to town. They had pony rides, it was midsummer and the animals were hot. The protestors demanded all the hot animals be immediately given copious amounts of cold water. When asked if they would pay for the immediate vet surgery required by deliberately giving ten ponies colic, they suddenly slunk off.

They knew nothing about horses and their demands could have killed all those animals.

My impression of PETA and the like is of deeply damaged people, broken inside, and unable to empathize within their own species.  I find them tragic, and useless, and harmful to the cause they have embraced.
