Six months ago I moved from Win 98 to Vista and was at least expecting something better, but am sorely dissapointed, what a pile of junk. I have had problem after problem with Vista, mainly caused by the crappy updates I keep getting. The last attempt to install M$ SP1 resulted in me losing my audio, a problem which according to various tech forums seems to be popular. Thankfully liasions with HP after sales service quickly corrected the problem. Now because I was running win 98 in the past, and it became unsupported, I was forced to learn something about the system to keep it running, which it did quite well despite what I threw at it. Vista, I just cannot be bothered to learn about this what I did about win 98, and why should I, it is meant to work. Now I run a lean system, but then my applications are few, why should I need to go out and buy more RAM when most of my activities are internet and the occasional use of photoshop and picasa, and I don't store my pics on the hard drive, they get burned onto disk asap. Since my first run in with M$ SP1, I have lost confidence, and am now looking towards Linux, but need more knowledge before I take great pleasure in junking M$.
