lovepuppy -> the choke thing (6/29/2008 6:12:14 AM)

can somoene(s) involved with both sides of the choke-fantasy give me a 101 class on it real quick?  I think I'm bright enough to figure out if they are turning purple to loosen up just a touch, but I'm looking for a tutorial on both the mental game as well as any tips old hands have learned on both sides of the equation, doms(male) w/ subs (fem) (not a shot to other combo's out there, just I don't need to write a paper on the topic I just need to be sure I know enough to check the right boxes on the test) (and yes, why yes I do feel a little like Tennesee Tuxedo *grin*)

Thanks in advance to all the wise n dirty sages out there.

The only choking I am comfortable with is the old ram the dick down the throat and a one-handed light restriction on the throat time to time.  The thing is, it is pretty dangerous, and not likely to win you any friends down at the courthouse if you get too rough or way to rough and end up having to skate down to the hospital or talk to cops about it.

Well if it stays in the realm of fantasy, it can be about anything you want.

If you're practicing this sort of thing, trying to simplify it to a 101 "Coles Notes" [Cliff Notes for the Yanks] reference will probably be detrimental in the long run.  But, for the challenge of brevity [sigh]:

Go slow.  Practice with pressure.  Have alternative methods for giving warning that stops the play - holding a ball during and dropping said ball works.  So does a punch to the temple, but that's just me.  Be safe.  Have fun.

[Edited to stick my tongue out at 6 for typing faster.]

If you didn't have to stop and translate various and sundry phrases such as: 'bonnet', 'petrol bowser', and 'thrupendybit' you would have outposted me by several minutes, I can assure you.

kiwisub12 -> RE: the choke thing (6/29/2008 6:28:23 AM)

try occluding the nose and mouth - its a bit harder to get a seal, but way safer - no chance of knocking plaque loose to kill off brain cells. [:D]

crouchingtigress -> RE: the choke thing (6/29/2008 6:33:24 AM)

there are alot of things in bdsm i would feel comfortable giving a quick tutorial on, breath play is not one of them.

please look for a class, and learn some human attatomy.

please dont do knock out play with out knowing that your submissive can die, there is no safe way to do knock out play.

Screw that.  I had to research the translation for 'pressure'.

Try out this workaday explanation by Queen:

Mm ba ba de
Um bum ba de
Um bu bu bum da de
Pressure pushing down on me
Pressing down on you no man ask for
Under pressure - that burns a building down
Splits a family in two
Puts people on streets
Um ba ba be
Um ba ba be
De day da
Ee day da - that's o.k.
It's the terror of knowing
What this world is about
Watching some good friends
Screaming 'Let me out'
Pray tomorrow - gets me higher
Pressure on people - people on streets
Day day de mm hm
Da da da ba ba
O.k.
Chippin' around - kick my brains around the floor
These are the days it never rains but it pours
Ee do ba be
Ee da ba ba ba
Um bo bo
Be lap
People on streets - ee da de da de
People on streets - ee da de da de da de da
It's the terror of knowing
What this world is about
Watching some good friends
Screaming 'Let me out'
Pray tomorrow - gets me higher high high
Pressure on people - people on streets
Turned away from it all like a blind man
Sat on a fence but it don't work
Keep coming up with love
but it's so slashed and torn
Why - why - why ?
Love love love love love
Insanity laughs under pressure we're cracking
Can't we give ourselves one more chance
Why can't we give love that one more chance
Why can't we give love give love give love give love
give love give love give love give love give love
'Cause love's such an old fashioned word
And love dares you to care for
The people on the edge of the night
And loves dares you to change our way of
Caring about ourselves
This is our last dance
This is our last dance
This is ourselves
Under pressure
Under pressure
Pressure

(and OP, this is more telling on the psychology of it than you might first imagine)

The other side of the coin, since you asked for it?

'Love is like Oxygen'.  Sweet!!!!!

lovepuppy -> RE: the choke thing (6/29/2008 6:56:12 AM)

thank you #6, that is brillant, I'll have to ponder the words of wisdom in what you said but I think I'm at least quick enough to know there is cake in all that icing..

and thank you to everyone else who has helped, the saftey aspect is the one part I think I'm comfortable with, i'd never go beyond using my hand, and since I'm kinda a weakling wuss, there is probably a finite amount of harm I can do to a fitness buff...but I will still be careful.

pinkwind -> RE: the choke thing (6/29/2008 6:58:04 AM)

A 101 class on choking real quick?

You are joking aren't you?

It is not something that can be taught on the run, nor learned in an instant, and is certainly not the stuff of generalities.

Why do you need to know such a potentially life threatening type of torture so quickly?

lighthearted -> RE: the choke thing (6/29/2008 6:59:42 AM)

I always pass on this bit of info I learned here from another member...the swelling that may occur afterward can be deadly...don't mean to rain on your vinyl parade, just trying to be helpful.

crouchingtigress -> RE: the choke thing (6/29/2008 7:00:34 AM)

do you mean you would never go beyond the hand over the mouth style?

because the hand around the throat style is just as dangerous as a garrote.

christine1 -> RE: the choke thing (6/29/2008 7:07:04 AM)

OP, try it on yourself first.  i'm not trying to be snarky here.  it'll help you understand that it doesnt' take a lot of pressure or time to get out of control.

And in this cover it all package, you now have your scene music for your '1st annual choke-o-rama.'

yeah, you can't underestimate my wussiness factor though, but I do understand about the anatomy involved and I do think I understand all the warnings cuz I could be a gorilla-gonzo dom who gets in that space and forget that survival means as much as good time..more if you don't want to learn about what a holding cell smells like...I'm more the Charlie Brown in shorty leather pants type of dom...who actualy lets his goof factor go away during scenes...but all warnings are being noted with great care.

and Christine, I realy like your sig, I'm not a big gun type of guy...I like the little ones you can keep handy while playing cards...but I thought it was very funny.

crouchingtigress -> RE: the choke thing (6/29/2008 8:01:27 AM)

i am not sure we are connecting, i hope that we are, this is very important, how are you using your hands may i ask?

LadyPact -> RE: the choke thing (6/29/2008 8:06:39 AM)

I haven't read the replies.  Is anyone else concerned that someone would want to conduct an edgeplay scene through random instructions from the net?

Sorry, I'm a bitch today.

RedMagic1 -> RE: the choke thing (6/29/2008 8:07:58 AM)

Worth noting that you don't have to use hands or pressure.  Put a feather on her mouth and if it moves, she's disobedient.  Her involuntary muscles will take over, making danger minimal.  Bonus: your hands are free.[;)]

I don't see anything bitchy about it. Personally I agree; and this is coming from a person who simply adores breath play.

lovepuppy -> RE: the choke thing (6/29/2008 8:13:13 AM)

since the girl's thing is more about the control aspect than the true choking angle, I've been using thumb and forfinger under the chin to about where the uestation(sp?) tubes are but not as far up as the carotoid(again sp?) artery is, then using the web of the forefinger and thumb to control the movement under her chin.  who'd have thunk my wee girly hands would finnaly have a use in something, besides getting the cotton out of the bottle and bead work.
