Geesh...you scare me...and not much scares me anymore

crouchingtigress -> RE: the choke thing (6/29/2008 8:18:36 AM)

and what effects are you experiancing? are you using your hand to move her head around or to cut off her air?

lovepuppy -> RE: the choke thing (6/29/2008 8:34:29 AM)

since the pressure is below the chin and not as far back as the Trach. there is only the control with the illusion of choking...and thank you CT, for at least hearing a brother out on the hows and wherefores.

I'm not sure if it is an indictment of me or the other morons who have come before me which have some folks in such an uproar..if it's me, I'll happily take the rap, if it's other people then all I ask is, I got some coal...and could really use the diamonds if you, ya know, have the time to spare.

please call me amy

sure, write me on the other side with any questions you have ill be happy to share anything i know, but please know that breathplay is not something i will share, for that you will need a class.

classes are hard to come by, if you can find them you have to sign wavers, teachers are reluctant to teach this class because of the liability involved.

again there is no way to do safe breath  (knock out) play,none, no matter how safe you are your submissive can die....

that is why i asked what effect you are going for....?

lovepuppy -> RE: the choke thing (6/29/2008 9:03:16 AM)

Hi Amy,

The effect is purely on the surface of the thing, again that illusion, I'd no more ask about edgeplay than put on a chicken suit and walk into a barbeque joint...wait I might do that if free ribs were involved....but even more so I'd never take a new sub to edgeplay until all of the why's wherefores and hows are worked out and I knew exactly her response to pressure/fear was...

I should have probably worded the orgianl post a little differently, but am finding the rewards of seeing the various personality types come out more than compensation for the unintentional overstating of what I wanted to know.  I give you credit Lady, for all the people running around singing the "ohmigod he's going to kill someone" song, you were the only one who took a moment to find out "if he is really going to kill someone."

Worth noting that you don't have to use hands or pressure.  Put a feather on her mouth and if it moves, she's disobedient.  Her involuntary muscles will take over, making danger minimal.  Bonus: your hands are free.[;)]

copies and pastes to DV .... for no particular reason

TheGaggingWh0re -> RE: the choke thing (6/29/2008 10:21:42 AM)

I have to agree with the majority posting here: Play with it. Go light first, and then see where it takes you, but of course...be safe.

My owner and I choke play often. I don't know what he does to know when to stop (that's a conversation for him), but I do know that he *does* know how to read me, and when to let up. He's taken MANY martial arts classes for ten years which covered choking in great detail. He did just tell me a little about it and also says, "It depends on the kind of choke".

I was going to write a long-winded post about it, but he's getting on his name to take over, LOL!

Anyway...we partake in this activity and I've passed out from the safe form of choking....and it is *fun*!

You say that like it's a bad thing.

mistoferin -> RE: the choke thing (6/29/2008 10:30:50 AM)

The Eustachian tube extends from the anterior wall of the middle ear to the lateral wall of the nasopharynx, approximately at the level of the inferior nasal concha. Pressure applied to it (if you could actually get to it) would impair your hearing but it certainly wouldn't make you stop breathing. It's also not under your chin.

TheGaggingWh0re -> RE: the choke thing (6/29/2008 10:37:22 AM)

..............

poisonedprogress -> RE: the choke thing (6/29/2008 10:38:45 AM)

I've taken lots and lots and lots of martial arts, wherein I learned all about chokes. I STRONGLY suggest anyone interested in participating in "the choke thing" do a great deal of research on it... watch some videos, read a lot, or take a class.

The safest way to engage in chokeplay is to limit it to "blood chokes", where blood to the brain is cut off via pressure on the carotid artery. In anticipation of brain damage, all the tangential brain functions will stop in about 5-15 seconds or so, leaving them unconcious. As long as the hold is released immediately upon going limp, there is no damage done, and conciousness will be regained pretty quickly... as in just a few seconds. It's basically inducing a faint.

DesFIP -> RE: the choke thing (6/29/2008 10:47:16 AM)

You must realize that crushing the trach is not the only danger. Closing off the carotid arteries is just as dangerous. You may wish to research Jay Wiseman on breath play. Keep in mind he is a professional in emergency medicine and he has concluded that there is no way to make this absolutely safe.

What that means is that if you're waiting for her to safeword(gesture) or color change, she may be dead before that happens.

mistoferin -> RE: the choke thing (6/29/2008 10:49:26 AM)

I agree. Breath play carries huge risks that can not be controlled. It only takes seconds to kill someone.

NumberSix -> RE: the choke thing (6/29/2008 10:50:20 AM)

I don't know, what topics will your class cover?

RedMagic1 -> RE: the choke thing (6/29/2008 10:55:04 AM)

"The complete obstruction of blood flow to the brain or asphyxia by complete closure of the trachea (windpipe) will result in irreversible damage (if held too long) to the body and possibly in death. However, in 99 percent of the choking techniques there is not complete blockage of the trachea."
Source: http://www.judoinfo.com/chokes4.htm

That's about blood chokes.  99% of the time means there's complete blockage of the trachea once if you do it 100 times.  If you play twice a week, you're odds-on to reach that situation within 18 months.

Another weakness to your post is that you make it sound as though only the choker needs to get info, etc.  Martial artists train as the "chokee" also -- how to tap out, and how to recognize it's time to tap out.  Furthermore, the martial arts info refers to athletes, and most BDSM practitioners aren't.  Hell, even the Viagra commercials say to ask your doctor to make sure you're healthy enough for sexual activity.  Any sub looking for this needs to be proactive in learning about it, and physically healthy.

NumberSix -> RE: the choke thing (6/29/2008 10:55:53 AM)

Depending on time and interest (or not)..........

Fisting.
Breath Play via mummification in latex.
Emergency Open Mouth resuscitation.

Things of that nature.

I love your nick, BTW  (my kinda girl, although you ignored my ass when I wrote you.......LOL)

Bolded for relevance. In air chokes there is blockage of the trachea. In blood chokes there is not.

I'm sorry you interpreted it that way, but I made no specification as to who should get the info, and intended for both. This is why I said, and I quote, "I STRONGLY suggest anyone interested in participating in "the choke thing" do a great deal of research on it... watch some videos, read a lot, or take a class." This is true. Exactly why I said anyone interested in participating in the choke thing should take a class, do some reading, watch some videos, etc.

No it doesn't. A choke is a choke. 5-10 seconds, no matter how big you are, and you're out. Release when they're out, and you've done zero irreversible damage.

Hell, even the Viagra commercials say to ask your doctor to make sure you're healthy enough for sexual activity.  Any sub looking for this needs to be proactive in learning about it, and physically healthy.

Being physically healthy is a pretty obvious given, and since I already clearly stated that everyone interested in participating in "the choke thing" should learn about it first, I really don't see your problem.

NumberSix -> RE: the choke thing (6/29/2008 11:08:04 AM)

I have been asked by someone (not a gregarious type) so I dunno.
