I suspect that at heart, Don Imus considers himself a "realist" and not a "racist". I'll wager he sees nothing wrong with what he said recently and in fact continues to see nothing wrong in what he said about the Rutgers team, You see, he's a "realist", not a "racist". In his mind, he calls them not only as he sees it, but as it is. To people like Imus, if you see racism in his remarks, the fault is your own narrow minded, politically correct thought process. To agree with the I-Man means you are one of the "enlightened". To disagree means you are just one more robotic thinker in a world so crazed by white guilt that you can't even handle a "little joke". It was clear when he got canned that he did not "get it" and it's clear that he still doesn't. I wonder if his constant ass kissing of the political media elite is what kept him in business for so many years and helped engineer his return when this little sad sack of bigotry got bounced from the public airwaves in the first place.....

Both Pat Buchanan and Mike Barnicle, on MSNBC's Morning Joe program (which took the Imus show's place) seemed to think that it's looking at Imus with too fine an eye, that we're going to PC our way to complete silence. Anywho, they're supposed to talk a little about it, later. Personally, I think there is some racism in Imus, but not the hateful, KKK sort.

First off, it's a fact that Buchanan has had his own issues in terms of how he views African-Americans as well as made some weirdly sympathetic remarks about Hitler and Nazi Germany. I'm not saying that he can't speak his opinions, just that his POV may be clouded by some very suspect politics. As for Barnicle, he lost a pretty cushy newspaper job after being caught practicing plagerism. He in effect is an intellectual thief who will steal the work of other, smarter people to further his career and line his wallet. After his cashiering from The Boston Globe, Imus was one of the very few willing to give him a national platform to continue his career. He may well be doing payback on Morning Joe. After all, his message during the Rutgers fiasco was hate the sin, love the sinner, help the man and give him another chance... Don Imus in fact is allowed to say pretty much exactly what he feels on his broadcasts. The public however is not obliged to allow him to use our airwaves as he sees fit to continue what his supporters want to call a hiccup when in fact it's really just part of a long string of attacks on the African-American community. This is our country, Imus does not run. No one wants to cancel honest discussion of topics like racism. I think everyone could agree that the ass clowns that are in the game to fatten their wallets need to act responsibly. Why do we have to have millionaires using our system of public airwaves to spew hate though? Can't Imus just podcast like the thugs from the KKK and the various Neo-Nazi groups do?

Actually Level, from comments I read last night from his supervisor at his new job he won't be fired. Now...if the sponsors decide to advertise elsewhere, that ball goes into play...

Yes, of course we can't have "our" airwaves polluted by unnacceptable opinions. Only acceptable opinions will be allowed. Firing him was stupid, can you imagine the call traffic ? Let the public have at him. Let his show be bombarded by those he insulted. It would be a blast and then maybe people will grow some fucking skin. I am sick to death of the politically correct, look at what happened to Jimmy the Greek. But the thing is Greekman was right, and when it is his money in the bookies hands it is his decision. He said one guy was going to win something or other because he was Black, because of differences in musculature. Then wasn't there football coach ousted for something similar ? Saying something like the Black players would likely handle the extreme heat better ? You can't talk about this, you can't talk about that, some fucking free speech. Some people may think that I post prolificly, but the fact is I dump more than I post. It goes in a certain direction and I can see that people without any fucking skin will be offended in some way, how I have not figured out. The net result is that in a public venue we cannot discuss our differences, and thus will not learn to understand one another in anytome the near future. That is just how "they" want it, and get me on the other side if you really want to know who "they" are. That too cannot be discussed in a public venue. And really I would rather not be asked, just search the internet for "Who controls the media". And let me tell you, the PTB need absolute control over the media, it is integral to their continued success and it was instrumental in their initial success. Anyone who can't see it, if you please, how is the weather on the northern hemishepere of Mars ? What if one newsman asked just where that hundred and something a barrell for oil is going. Well if it is because of the war, why do we need tax dollars ? I don't care how much the futures market has driven up the price, the question is WHO GETS THE FUCKING MONEY ? IMHO Imus blows enough hot air to give rise to a few hot air balloons! That being the key reason i don't listen to his carrying-ons'. If Imus is fired, again, i do so hope someone address' Snoops' response to the above situation and how he called Imus a "Cracker." If one is called out, bring them all into the light. i discriminate against inane people, btw!! [:D] b.~

Level, IMO Imus is a F**king Bigot. I don't see how anyone could view him differently now. I am reminded of Mark Furman committing perjury by falsely denying he ever used the 'N' word while testifying on the stand during the Simpson murder case. pinkieplum

Imus says he was making a sarcastic remark in to underscore that it was racial profiling. I wonder why they didn't accost the black anchorman on CNN who said that Pacman was just a JERK! I don't think Imus should be terminated because of his opinions.. but because he is soo butt ugly!!!!! My god, he insults everybody equally. Just like Howard Stern... or Carlos Mencia... or Richard Pryor... or (the list goes on and on)

As long as he's not violating FCC regulations in regards to what he says over the airwaves, he's done nothing wrong. You have a choice if you don't like listening to a particular radio or television host......you simply change the dial or turn it off. Comparing a radio host putting his foot in his mouth a couple of times, and a police officer lying under oath in court is moronic. It's not even close to being the same thing. Don Imus is an old man, and I don't really pay that much attention to what he says. I really don't care, and neither should anyone else. You don't know what's in the man's heart anymore than I do. We've all said regrettable things in our lives, but most of us don't have someone hanging on to everything we say. Leave this old man alone for fuck's sake, he's not hurting you.

Please list these issues that you think he has. He's a paleo-conservative, so he disagrees with liberalism and neo-conservatism. The only issue he has is those with morons that equate true conservatism with racial bigotry. He's never once made a racist remark. He never made a sympathetic remark about Hitler or the Nazis. He simply called into question the necessity of the Second World War. I disagree with his assessment of that particular time in our history, but I'm glad he voiced that opinion. It's important to hear different, controversial views when you study history. History should always be debated or else you end up with propaganda.

Ultimately it's his right as an American to say what he pleases, just as it is ours to ignore what he says. And somebody is feeling him because he makes a very pretty penny at it. To me the guy is just so damned irrelevant.
