Activist judges?  These were republican judges.  I dont see what it takes away from the likes of this protester.

I can understand a person not being in support of it- but to have nothing else to do but to protest it seems sorta sour.

He claims it harms his religion.... hmm.

Apparently, Pahunk, some people's religion is sooooo weak that other people engaging in life can damage it.  The fact that 2 lesbians can wed will destroy the whole basis of their marriage.
If my marriage were that weak, I wouldn't want it.  If my religion was that weak, I'd look for a god who couldn't be beaten up by two gays at their wedding.

For myself - the only regret that comes to mind is the episodes my poor mom endured via my "lifestyle".  I dont know if she ever bounced back from it...but I do regret that "it" pulled her to see some ugliness in the world. I wish I could un-do that particular day(s).

oh well.    it does seem odd that people on one side or the other are quick to lable activist judges.  I dont think judges are the reason why society has its woes,  more like the lawyer/insurance industry- that loop holes so much.

It starts to look like a referee at a little league game being yelled at for a call made.

The only rationale is that they seem to protest anything and everything in California.  I mean in Harrisburg if there is a protest people look cause there are not that many of them. It isnt an east coast thing like it is on the west coast.  [the item of protesting per se]

Give me a break!

If one is so weak in his faith that the act of gay marrage is going to damage his religion, I think the person needs to re-examine his faith.

For the record, the Jewish, Muslim and Christian faiths are the only ones that have religious passages condeming homosexuality.  They also happen to be the youngest religions in the world.

Go figure.

While I am straight, prefer to be straight, I see no reason to condem someone for a choice they made or that biology made for them.

HOWEVER, I am very upset with gays and lesbians becuase everytime something good happens for them, the whackos come out of the woodwork and start protesting and taking up valuable news time from more important issues, like sports!!

Please, dont stir up the whackos, we have enough problems with them already.  They either protest against gay marriage, gay rights, logging, powerplant construction, men and women killed in combat, movies that may or may not contain gay themes, or adultery, or rampant sex, or swearing, or talk show hosts, or the fact that string and thong bikinis are allowed in public.

Please note that the last statements were sarcastic in nature and were in no way to blame anyone who benifited from these laws....

The way I see it, people like that young male in the video is spouting off a bunch of bullshit and has no concept on the diversity of lifestyles on this planet! It is people like that where I would love to have them sit down with several members of my community for a no holds barred discussion of what it is actually like being gay. Better yet, have them listen to someone would identifies as bisexual or intersexed.

now now bear...you know better...intersexed is not an identity.

faery....I meant identity as being who a person is, didn't mean identity as a superficial label placed upon ourselves.

ok..but for the record...i was born intersexed...its a physical issue and not an issue of the mind..not something i made up or created.  therefore i cant identify as such.

identity is gender OR a sexuality...  intersexed is a physical defect of genitalia, with possible chromosome defects (xxy, xxx to name a couple) and also plenty of other body issues.  my identity is female and lesbian.

Yet you also identify as a human being...correct? As it is in this example I was denoting, not to be confused with sexual orientation, gender identity, et al.

The context I was using the term identity is in the same way I identify as a human being. Where the confusion begins is I see the definition of the word identity to encompass a range of definitions, whereas many don't.

My appologies to pa for getting sidetracked to your post. I am stepping back from this post.

faerytattoodgirl -> RE: protesting the gay marriage - (6/17/2008 3:49:39 PM)

if you cant identify it on your drivers license or passport..then it is not an identity.

they are not going to put "intersexed" on my id's.  they are going to put male or female.

you do not put "intersexed" on things like dr forms or job applications.  you put male or female....some people put "yes please" under sex on these same forms.  wonder if they ever get hired doing that.

subtee -> RE: protesting the gay marriage - (6/17/2008 3:52:53 PM)

I always thought the "F" in the gender box was for "fun."

kdsub -> RE: protesting the gay marriage - (6/17/2008 3:53:57 PM)

I hate to keep saying I am a Christian...and I don't want to seem a fanatic... but it is important to me so when someone reads my post they know where I am coming from.

To me...if homosexuality is against my religion then it is the Churches responsibility to at most... hope to change me... but also to forgive me...not persecute me.

What gives my Church the right to judge me?... That is for God to do...I would like to see my church teach the word of God...stay out of politics... then let God decide if we have followed that word...not some punk with a Jesus tee shirt and a big mouth

Ya know I dont see why they are so pissed about gay marriage.... I mean honestly, why should straights be the only ones to suffer? Besides if they are that opposed to gay sex they should be encouraging marriage because everyone knows that nothing kills a sex life like marriage does. Shit youre dating and you do it in every room in the house, and after a few years of marriage sex consists of saying "fuck you" as you pass each other in the hallway....

farglebargle -> RE: protesting the gay marriage - (6/17/2008 7:05:29 PM)

Know what keeps me warm at night?

The idea the since California has Gay Marriage, and Mass has Gay Marriage and New York *formally and legally* recognizes those marriages, although doesn't explicitly provide for them ( although reading the relevant NYS Law, there's no explicit exclusion... I'd expect it next legislative session... )

Anyway... My point is -- This train ain't gonna be stopped, and people better adjust to the idea.
