I have noticed a few discussions on age but its been something that has been on my mind and I have not wanted to hijack anyone's thread. I have noticed of late that several subs on the younger side are cutting their top age at around 35 or so and that some older subs are cutting their bottom age at 38 or so. Being above the one and below the other I have wondered if perhaps I have hit an age dead zone where I am both too young and too old. Now I generally do not find age to be an issue, I feel that I can hang with most crowds from 18 to 80 and find some common ground. So I generally contact those who I have common ground with regardless of age. That being said I have found myself second guessing contacting subs of certain ages even if they have not posted an age limit because that idea that I may be too old or too young is in the back of my head. I am curious if others have gone through a phase like this, where they felt a little out of touch of both ends of the age spectrum? Logan

I haven't found age to be a problem thankfully. Even though I list an age range in my profile, I get lots of messages from early 20's up into the 70's. I've come to the stage where I will give anyone a fair chance to prove they are worthy of my time, regardless of age.

Everyone is always in some phase. I'm the in young enough to still not really be believed on what I know and understand and asked advice for off the street, but old enough so I don't get every wanker looking for a piece of nubile gullible meat.

well my search has always been 23-50 I happen to like older women preferably but I give anyone who is old enough to get that 1-2 years of legal drinking out of the way. any exceptions to the general rule will happen on its own and search is not going to help nor hurt. as for a dead age... just remember that many people form their guidlines based on their experiences. by posting a pleasant email you may or may not be given a chance to show why you may be that exception to their rule. I have dated/played with a fair share of women who's lower age limit was almost 10 years older then me. but given the chance of an in person meet many people realize that I'm both fun/silly and quite mature for my age... besides... even if you are in a "dead" age... what are you going to do? wait till you turn 38? good luck and cheers Skully

Ignore the age preferences in profiles. Write the people whose vanilla interests you share or complement, and in your first email explain why you are writing, and don't mention age. I've dated women whose profiles said their max age was below mine, and whose min age was above mine. I also had a relationship with someone, and I was 9 years older than the max age on her profile. People make exceptions if they think you really could be a match.

Logan, it's a problem I've shared. Both from work and being involved in horses, I've been involved with ladies of all ages. I DON'T FEEL OLD. I still have children in elementary school. But, there are many who are pretty hung up on age. In the last couple years, my most successful relationship was with a lady half my age. If not for a great research opportunity she received, we would have been married. Does that mean I will only go out with women who are younger? NO. It means age doesn't matter. What matters to me is, as you put it, COMMON GROUND. A love of similar music, the ability to hold conversations with some depth to them, exploring good wine and food, horses and ummms. There are ladies my age who say they are done raising ummms and would expect me to not spend so much time with them. That won't happen. There are those who just want to talk about current TV (don't watch much) or shopping (ick). I'm looking for that "COMMON GROUND" and not just in the lifestyle. I have close friends from 22 to 72. Speaking for myself, and with disclaimers in place that the individual is much more important than the statistic, I'm more drawn to women older than myself. The female authority figure who embodies grace, strength and wisdom is more likely to be found in someone forty-ish or more than in someone very young. ~aiden

I only feel this way being on this website. When I go out to the clubs, bars and other places this is not a big issue. Perhaps if anything for me it becomes an issue. After I discover the girl I had been dancing with for the last 20 minutes is 21 years old. If anything I have to prove to people that I'm as old as I say I am. I've been mulling this one over some in mind because I'm getting older. Really does not bother me too much about the age cuts online, I can totally understand the reasoning behind it. I really don't take it too personally. For me I'm pretty open minded regarding age within reason. General rule of thumb it ranges from 20 something to 40 something.

I noticed that at about 38 I had aged out of one group and was just entering the next. Then at 45 I aged out of all the groups. At 46 end the active stages of sex and the scrounging begins.

I find there are, generally, less people around in their thirties/early forties than either younger or older. I think this has to do with older people finally finding the freedom to explore their kinks, while the next generation coming up is coming into kink earlier thanks to the internet. (I know I'd've been active in the scene a LOT younger if I'd had the internet community back then.) I generally look between 25 and 45, but am more open to older rather than younger partners, because I feel my situation is best suited to someone in a more secure place in her life.

When I said that I might be to young everyone here laughed at me. I would love to be back in my 30's. Only because I don't have the time to handle my overflow right now. Im thinking of putting some of my subs on E-Bay. I need the money.

I tended to start off with saying "I am not exactly in your prefered age range, but I doubt that would matter." And I went on from there. My Angel is 23, 21 when I got him, and had an age cap of 25. I was already 29 but we didnt chat on the premise of his being mine... it just worked out that way. The only time I have a problem with age is when someone thinks it makes them better than my boys becasue they are older. DV

i used to worry about being a submissive over 40, i thought that nobody would want me because i was too old. when i joined CM, i found that my perceptions about age were way off, i had 20 to 70 year olds mailing me. my Sir is 20 years older than i am and we fit perfectly together.
