Sorry to hear that Aylee...maybe its my curse...last summer a friend back home (we know each other since 27 years) had all sort of bad things happen to her parents, her partners parents and her partners grandparents when they went off to holiday...

Apart from that happy new year to all lovely ones on here Lets make it a good one

I had a dream last night (on the sofa, I overslept the change of the year from about 10pm until I woke up again at 1.57) which improves my hope to have passed my damn result I am waiting for...not as convincingly a usually (I had the tendency to dream being told by lecturer or practice assessor to fail in the past assignments and placement when I received it then back as a pass...and despite huge trouble thanks to some bitches in my last placement that dream gave me the confidence that I get a pass when I went there the final time and I got a pass from her ) but it still cheers me up a bit for now

Aylee, sorry to hear about your troubles, I hope they soon smooth over.  {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

Poor Butterhead, sick at Christmas.....I hope Santy was good to her.......I always felt worse than the kid when he was sick and that young....not much you could do to ease their symptoms, except suffer with them.

Phoenix, I hope all goes well with your dissertation, you've certainly put alot into it!

I hope everyone else has recovered from their NY Eve celebrations.  It was quite the show here, lots of fireworks on the river, and several nutcases firing off their semi-automatics around the corner from my place.  Assholes.  Didn't hear any screaming, so they managed to NOT hit and injure anyone.....course, you don't make any noise if you're DEAD!

Sorry to hear about your troubles Aylee. Seems you may have been caught in the over blast form the holiday curse that hit me this year.

I need to come up with $500 as a down payment for a $2500 car repair. My sister and I are talking about selling some land we jointly own, but that will take 30+ days and the mechanic needs the $500 for work he did to find out it will cost $2500.

Now do I need to explain why I really dont like the holidays?

Thanks S2S...I really am quite confident about it since today...should be fine...though nevertheless I will be more glad once I know it in writing...

apart frmo that my damn sink in the kitchen is blocked since weeks and it appears I cant fix it tried today to unscrew it, the part which I did unscrew wasnt blocked and since it is back in place it is now leaking underneath my sink was dreading that this might happen as that happened before already when I tried to fix it once at work

ON the plus side I managed today to knit a mouse head...which is one from countless aspects for the adventskalendar for my ex (yesh I know, planning long ahead but lemme tell ya, I will need that time ). I tried earlier to knit the mouses' foot but didn't manage to really understand the instructions, but managed it with the head and am quite pleased...so will continue to "try around" it

good night folks

Phoenix, I don't know if it's called the same thing, but go to your hardware store and look for teflon tape.....take the pipe apart and wrap it around the threads and reattach the pipe.  It might help it seal back up tight and stop the leaking.  It looks like white tape about 1/2 wide.  I'use it all the time on my water pipes and shower heads.

The Man promised to fix the leaky faucet in the laundry sink. And to snake out the tub. I'm still waiting.

He decided instead to prime my daughter's room since she has finally agreed that the screaming yellow she picked ten years ago has to go. I thought it should never have gone up, personally. However he did fill in the holes in the sheetrock on the stairs while he had the joint compound bucket open. Now he gets to paint that, I hope.

Here's hoping Aylee's life gets better and quickly.

thanks but I give up now....just pushed a computer cable down (binned that cable now) and whilst it pushed something it did not unblock it...I hope the leakage stops now with screwing it back better (hopefully) but with not being able to use it really I dont need to fix it more if it ain't working...it just annoys me as i know that blockage isnt caused from me...as I didn't really use it so far...another expense where I don't have the money for really right now....joy...

If it's been this way since you rented it, then it is the landlord's problem. He didn't list a nonfunctioning sink in the lease but that's what he gave you. Call and complain.

Thanks all!

The bug has made the rounds and we should be back in our home on Tuesday. Of course I am going to have to go out of town again. This time South Dakota. After that it is Georgia. Where at least it will be warm.

I hope that everyone else had a great holiday season.

The pressies for me were great this year. An immersion blender, a HUGE eectric grill, three new ceramic knives, Vol. II of Good Eats (the book), 2 jars of my brother-in-laws seasoning spice, Eyeore jammies, 2 movies, a metric ton of assorted types of dark chocolate, a new silicone spatula, purple slippers, and I am sure a couple of things I have forgotten.

Butterhead made out well also. Although all presents could have been forgotten as grandma has a sandbox to play in. Add to that the weather was beautiful so she could play in it without shoes or socks. Much to the consternation of great-grandma who believes that all children must be shod at all times. Well, too bad for her.

Right before the holiday trip we had went shopping for Butterhead some gifts. She of course was with us. She fell in love with this stuffed animal at the store. I have no idea what this thing is. It is lion looking, but the color scheme is crazy. I of course, bought it for her. I call it "one of the toys from the Island of Misfit Toys." She named it "Harry." The first stuffed animal she has ever named. Then she started refering to it as her "bebe."

Since I am the family feminist I was asked by most everyone why she did not have any baby dolls. *head desk*

She has baby dolls. I do not hate baby dolls. She just loves her Harry baby.

Well, I need to go do some things. I hope you all have a wonderful new year!

I would do so if I would have realised it in the beginning DesFIP...but I rented it on the 10th of september, moved in beginning of october and did not realise it until about 3 weeks ago as I never really needed it so far (when I was battling my flu over 3 weeks in october I didn't cook and once that was over most of my cooking was done whilst at work...). So whilst it genuinely isn't from me it is easily not being taken serious about it after such a long time.

Apart from that it is obvious that this landlord as well as the estate agent couldnt care less. Before I moved in I was told the bathtub would be fixed as it has no side pannel, which isn't a pretty visual when you go in the bathroom (I got used to it by now). I complained to it when the estate agent tried to rush me in signing a change in my rent contract which he emailed me, asking to return it to him asap...I never did it as I asked him at first when that pannel will be fixed and also when the rubbish in front of my bedroom door will be going (as there the landlord dumped the previous kitchen from in here...which I will move to a different part of his garden if I remain living here, as it makes a heck of a lot of noises when it is raining at night time).

He never bothered to answer and since then never asked for that document again (I did not sign it as well as I wanted to compare it at first with the one I have). So I can't expect it from them, thats obvious. The folks who live upstairs complained as the carpet has many holes and is a serious trip hazzard to fall down the stairs, he just put tape on top of it to fix it instead of fixing it in a proper way.

So I will wait now for my uni result which will be a major factor for me to decide if I stay here or if I might return home and if I would return home then I won't fix it as then the landlord can do that with the deposit which I would not get back anyway in that case as then I would have to leave with short notice.

So right now I wait for that damn result before making any further plans. Yesterday I chucked out some of my dishes just to have less mess in the kitchen (didn't cost much and would be easy to replace).

At my previous landlord I know I could have contacted him as well as the estate agent, both were really great and helpful. Despite that there were way too many spiders from the ones I seriously can't stand (I wouldnt have stayed there for 2 months if I wouldn't have had my cats as defense mechanism) and mold problem in a way too small kitchen, it was a great place.

It has GOT to be warmer than South Dakota!  LOL

Just got back from the Nissan dealership.  I had to get cranky with them.  I needed a gasket for the rear part of the exhaust system.  So. . . what does the guy hand me?  A cock ring.

I handed it back and told him to give me the correct car part.

I am no dummy!

He insisted that it WAS the correct car part.

There was a bit of a yelling match.

I finally got fed up with the whole thing and paid for it and left.  So now I need to go put the cock ring on my car.  I suppose this makes me a weal and twue sadist d-type.  I even put cock rings on my car.  *snort*

**Okay. . . the only part of this story that is true is the first part.  There was no argument.  However the exhaust gasket DOES look like a cock ring.  This highly amused Phil who kept nudging me until I acknowledged the fact.

I am home.  The bathroom is oh-so-pretty.

Butterhead has ran nuts gathering up all of her stuffies!  (Although I wonder when she will twig to the one that is missing because the police took it away, as it was one of the HUGE ones.)

It looks like I will be leaving in the morning for some more out of town time.  At least we have all gotten over the icky bug that I thought was altitude sickness.

Many happy thoughts with you all!

Aylee, why did the cops "arrest" the toy?  That can't be good...is the tape at least down?

The tape is down.

The cops "arrested" the stuffie because there was blood on it.  As well as her sheets and a couple of other things.

As far as what has been able to be told, a young lady was assaulted on our property while walking home from the bar.  The house was broken into (possibly by her in her intoxicated and beat up state) and she made her way to Butterhead's bedroom where she laid down for a while and then woke up and called for a friend from our phone.

At the time the detective was calling my mother looking for me (in order to get permission to enter the house ~ with the broken front door) the young lady was still in the hospital.  They still do not know who the attacker was.

Nothing seems to be missing.  Considering that the TV and computers plus a check book and jewelry box were lying out and are still there, I really doubt anything was taken.

Thanks, but we are all fine.  Had we been home, I could have probably done something.  As it is, things are pretty much back in order.  I figure that I can find her a new giant stuffie on this next trip.
